It's just wrong. Blasphemy. Marriage is originally a religious thing, something a priest declares between a man and woman under the eyes of god, so that they can start having sex, making babies and setting up a family, get old together, die, and turn to ashes and dust again. So much for theory, I'm not religious. On a more personal note I'll just choose to ignore the whole thing and assume it's ok, because I have no first hand experience about what's it's like to be in love with another man. Live and let live.
I see marriage only as a contract between two people and a promise of a kind. I think I would never get married if it wasn't for the lawful rights of a couple. I think I can keep my promises without being enforced by the law, too...
I'm not 100% sure, but I think in Finland there are no gay marriages, but gays are allowed to "register" their partnership and they will receive the full legal benefits, just like man-and-wife couples. This sounds more real to me.
