So here goes, my gf started using the Evra patch, there've been some sideeffects, pretty common when talking about pill/patch. Cuz of that i started digging up stuff on the internet about this sort of things(long and short term problems and such).
Now i know this community ain't only little kids and gamers who haven't seen daylight in years, so the ones that used pills/patch or if your gf/wife used em, could you share your experience ? both possitive and negative sides.

P.S. just post if you had actually used or are using em, if you only read/saw stuff on tv, don't post that, i've read enough, now i'm looking for replys from people who have practical knowledge of this.

The Pill-i was on microgynon 30 then celeste fyi-is alright. Makes you put on weight and get moody and no that wasn't just me it actually said that in the leaflet. You can only miss 2 in a packet, after that you have to use condoms for a week if she takes the pill correctly for 7 days. I personally always forgot to take it, because i am crap like that but thing is you can take it up to 12 hours late and you'll be fine. Any more than that, you have to use a rubber for the week. Disappointing.

DO NOT-I REPEAT-NOT rely on the Morning after pill. IT DOES NOT WORK. VERY OFTEN.

I am not speaking from experience on the implant, however, which you can get fitted on the inside of the top of your arm. I know three people who it is successful for and two people who had to have it surgically removed. Make your own mind up on that one.

I personally don't like the idea of the patch, but that's just me i always imagine it floating off in the bath.

The depo injection/shot/whatever makes you mental. I know someone, actually make it a few people that went on it and just got very.....angry. I do not need an injection to be angry :)

ontopic: there are always other options but they're permanent and I wouldn't recommend them. She could get the coil impanted but that can only happen after her first child normally, tubes being tied and you getting the snip are the other options but sharp things scare me.

1)Since the info i read on the net is pretty much the same as evething else i had my hands on i do believe it, and i can see the difference between crap/lies and something that has atleast some value.
2)Think about one thing, docs prescribe pills and other stuff without doing any REAL examinations, a lot of them are "asked" to say nice stuff and prescrite medication without any real testing. Lots of patients suffer sideeffects. And btw there are docs that are dumb enough to prescribe contraceptic medication to 16 year old girls, even though the instructions that come with the medication say it can be only used for women 18 or 20 years or older.So if the doc ain't you friend it means he may not be objective. for example , 2 docs were asked the same question - one said both pills and patches and any other contraceptic should be avoided if possible, the other just prescribed the contraceptic, after some 5 minute checking, and gave her number incase something is wrong, so yeah... go ask a doc...

And THIS is why i asked here,to see what people that used em have to say, cuz unfortunatelly i don't know that many people who used anything except condoms, and the one pair that didn't use anything is waiting for a little meatball to pop out in about 7 months xD

and ofc they breakable but i can see when a condom is broken and then take appropriatte action (punch to the ovaries / morning after pill)

if the pill etc fails i dont find out till much later :P

As i said in the other thread, unless you have used it 100 times and recorded the result, you are in no position to question the success rate. Even then, that will only give YOUR rate based on your habits and own body.

Maybe you only used it as the primary preventative measure? It is not meant to be used that way. It still has to be used with a condom / withdrawal.

That is COMPLETELY ignorant. Surely you have a family doctor? Just because you are paranoid of a conspiracy among doctors to not actually help people at all, does not mean you ignore them. ALL medication has side effects, that is not the doctor's fault, and some/most contraceptives were developed in countries where the legal age for them is 18, yet the actual age is 16 in most countries. You are just making pathetic excuses now.

If you are going for the pill, there are MANY types, the doctor will recommend one which fit her body and her lifestyle as well as her habits.

Btw, the pill is not a prescription medicine, so they do not get any money telling you to go get it... so there goes your conspiracy theory.

Pass them off as facts? I said don't RELY on the morning after pill, as in...have unprotected sex and think "oh i'll just get the morning after pill" and everything will be ok. It should only be used in an emergency.

And as for me daring to question the succes rate, my little brother was the result of split condom/morning after pill, so was my friends child, and my own. I'm not stupid and didn't use anything at all.

Only thing that annoys me is that she/he/whatever keeps telling people not reply on the morning after pill just cos they know of a few instances where it didn't work. Erm yea, thats why it doesn't have a 100% success rate, there will be failures.

But it all goes back to the rest of my post that if you had actually gone to a doctor and been examined, they would have been able to tell you that the morning after pill may not be so successful for you because of your lifestyle/habbits.

If you just take it out of the blue, even if you do follow directions exactly, you have no idea what may happen. There is a BROAD spectrum of side effects. It is up to you to take the initiative before you even start having sex, to get examined so you know whether to bother with the morning after pill, which pills to take, and make sure you use a condom.

I was refering to the first half. She took the pill as an emergency after an accident happened, she took it in my presence, a few days later 2 pregnancy tests showed up positive and she was crying in my arms. we got even more confirmation yesterday from the doctors.

But.

According to that book they call and instruction leaflet that comes with the pill everything went fine. Even the side effects were spot on and all signs pointed to it being succesfull.

I'm not saying that what you posted wasn't true but you don't have to be an arse about it, both of your posts have been nothing but valid and tbh a good change to what's been posted lately but if the peace can't be kept then I'll be forced to act. It's really quite simple.

Statistics aren't always accurate and experience isn't necesarily accurate either. Use both however and you're on the right track.

Listen, when it comes to a bad case of flu, chicken pocks or anyother stuff, i run to the doc like the rest of us and i'm happy whith what they prescribe, so i do trust docs, family docs that is.
Now excuse me if i wasn't specific enough that it made you upset cuz i don't trust ALL docs. I gave you a simple example how 2 different docs reacted to the same question, it wasn't imagined, it actually happened, they were private docs. And just make things clear all that was said about MY country, the situation here. Doctors are tired of their patients they just want to get over with them asap(this has been the case when she went to the alergist 4 times, they still don't have any clue to what sort of alergy she got)
And once again that's why i asked here, cuz i wanted to see what ppl can tell me from their personal experience.

P.S. stop with that morning after pill debate, i(and hope that everyone else too) understand it was just her own opinion,which you may or may not listen to.
I agree though,70 or 80% or w/e the success rate is, don't remember now, it's not good enough.

Edit: P.P.S. this thread was more about long term use of contraceptic pill,patches and injections, their sideeffects and possitive effects if any. Since the whole thing is pretty new for a medication and increased hormone levels do tend to mess up your health with a bit of bad luck.

About the prescription, to buy a patch/pill you need one here(i'm not talking about the morning after pill though).

And btw that 16/18/20 year old thing is not about the legal age, but about your body being completely formed, hormone levels,menstrual cycles and that kind of things are more or less stable by the age 20 or so, thus it is safer to use contraceptics.

Well if i was being an arse, i apologize Flameing, some people have good incidents with emergency contraceptives and others don't; they have worked 3 times for me in the past few months so i didn't want people to be put off thinking that they don't work. On top of that we were using no other forms of protection.

@ Neculin, OK so you need a prescription for both the patch and pill, therefore you HAVE NO CHOICE but to go to the doctor, what else do you want us to tell you? People cannot tell you their experiences because every single person acts differently to different things.
Just go and find a different doctor and have them give an examination.

BTW your hormone thing is complete bollox, that's just your personal opinion, it has no real basis to it.

But on a more personal note, if you ever think of having kids NORMALLY i would not suggest the pill, it can cause long term effects which may complicate regular pregnancy.

That's what i wanted to hear in the first place, personal experience, thank you.

About different people - different experiences, that's the whole point, ofc i don't know if my gf will have the same sideeffects as someone who posted here, on another web or anywhere else, but that does give me a more accurate idea on what MIGHT happen,how it looks,and how bad it is,because all those sideffects are not something that happens once in a million years, and when they do appear you sometimes just don't know they ARE the sideffects and if they are quite normal, that tend to disappear in 95% of the cases, or they are quite rare and more dangerous that you might think at first.

And incase you missed it, she is using the patch atm - thus she HAD to and she DID go to the doc, got examined, but that's the points the exams aren't that carefull, they are pretty much done to see if you won't die on the spot if you use medication,but they don't and probably CAN'T tell anything about the problems you specificlymay get during short(3 months)/long(6-12 months) use of the contraceptic.

And yes i can read the papers that come with the contraceptic - but they only give numbers and names of sideeffects, nothing else,they don't say how bad it feels , how long it usually lasts, how serious it is, and how you can actually know it is a sideeffect, not just something completely unrelated.

Ask the docs ? Yes we did ask, we got 2 totally opposite answers. That's ofc understandable, they are people, they have different opinions,they are allowed to have them,but you don't get an answer that is 100% true or right. You can ask them about all the sideeffects and how to know them, how bad they are and such, but that is a lot of things and it would take a lot of time for them to explain everything the way it(in my opinion) should be explained.And from OUR(mine and gf's)experience you have to almost beat the doc to get something out of him, and trying to make him tell a lecture about this is pretty impossible.Thus you usually ask the doc when you already got simptoms of sideffects, but it might be too late for that by the time you understand what hit you.

So once again, and probably again and again i will say - That's why i'm asking people who used em, that already have experience in dealing with these things, so that i wouldn't have to rely on info from docs, random publications and that sort of thing, but so that i could see and example of what might happen.

I'm a she. Not a he, or a whatever. The doctor doesn't examine you for the MAP but you do fill out a questionaire thing. I wasn't bagging it for no reason, i have three good personal reasons. Anywho i guess this topic is a little too close to home for me and i guess i thought you were being very insensitive about it, but never mind. I'm leaving this topic alone, considering my personal experience/opinion has caused such a stir. Sorry i said anything, just because my experience differ from the "statistics" doesn't make them any less valid, just a different side of the coin to consider.

Did you take any alcohol before or after you consumed the pill, or any other drug for that matter? Those things completely fuck up the Hormones in the pill.

That's not true, a female body produces those hormones during pregnancy, and in much higher quantities too.

There is a difference between natural proccesses that increase them and medicine. If there wasn't any, there'd be no sideeffects. But that's not the point of this thread...

One of my ex-girlfriends used the injection and she never got pregnant (we NEVER used a condom...and we had sex ALOT), No noticeable side effects (to me at least).

Although she was horny ALOT...but I think that was just her.


So I do trust the injection...
