    Countdown to Devon's Birth

Firstly, I would like to ask if this is ok to be here. If not, please let me know and I will delete/move it to the appropriate section.

Well, Wednesday marked the beginning of the countdown for my sons' birth. My wife and I went to the O.B. for our weekly checkup. During the examination, the O.B. asked if Devon had been moving as much. My wife and I said no but that she had been getting quite a few pains associated with the baby dropping, so the O.B. sent us to the hospital to have a Non-Stress Test. When we got to the hospital, they hooked her up to a machine to monitor her and the baby for 20-30 minutes.

Halfway through, the on-call doctor asked if my wifes' water had broken yet. I said no. The reason they asked was because my wife was having contractions without knowing she was having them. I thought these kinda things were supposed to be unbelievably painful and whatnot?!?! So anyways, to quit the rambling... my wife was 1 cm dilated on Wednesday and the on-call doctor said she could theoretically have Devon any day now.

Last night we went for an hour and a half walk, with her power-walking the whole time (so proud of her lol) and tonight we walked for an hour at a normal pace while looking at the decorated houses. She also scrubbed the sh*t outta the floors in the house on her hands and knees so needless to say, I believe she's further along, possibly 3 cm dilated now! If so, she's officially into the second stage, which takes roughly 8-14 hours to go from second to third stage.

Sorry for the extreme wall of text, and thank you all that took the time to read it instead of td;lr. I'm extremely excited about this!!! If it is ok with the staff of this section, as well as the higher staff of RageZone, I'd appreciate it if I could have this thread open until he is born/a few days after he is born. You guys were kind enough to be there for my wedding, allowing me to keep a thread alive for it, as well as post a link to the live webcam feed of it. I'd really like to share this with you guys as well.

If allowed to keep this open, I will keep updating this daily with how she is feeling, how the pregnancy is progressing, etc etc.

OFF TOPIC: Please, no immature posts asking for nude pics or w/e of my wife before/during/after the birth.

She was having contractions without knowing them? Whoa that is lucky in a way becuase I've seen the way women scream when they have them and its not pretty. Hope everything goes well, and be sure to post a pic of the baby when its born!

wow I wish he was born tomorrow this way we would have been born on the same date!

however it's better if he is born in december cause if you're out of money in the future you will be able to merge his birthday presents with his christmas presents!

No more progress as of yet. Our plan is for her to try and have a natural birth until she can't deal with the pain anymore, then give her an epidural and proceed. The birth baths are not actually birth baths. Well... at least not here in Canada lol. You are not allowed to actually give birth in the bath because of the risk of infection to the baby and mother during the labor. Now, they only allow the mother in the bath if her water hasn't broke yet. Roses' hasn't broke yet

I would prefer him not to be born in December for that exact reason. I don't want him randomly thinking he's going to get the best of both worlds by being born in December. I want him to know the value of a dollar, especially these days with the economy not looking like it will be fully stabilized for another 10 years. Another reason is because Dec. 5th is the day my Grandmother/Mother from raising me, passed away and it'd just be hard if he was born on that day. It'd be a good/bad day.

I posted it so I wouldn't have people asking. Being a Moderator on this forum, you know sometimes people can be royal dicks like that. Especially considering my wife is far from ugly.

I don't know of the Devon you are talking about, but if he died in Iraq (and was a soldier), he has my utmost respect. We chose the name Devon Joseph-Durland MacFarland. Devon = A name I've always wanted for my son since I was old enough to want kids lol. Joseph = Mine, my fathers', and Roses' grandfathers' middle name. Durland = Roses' grandfathers' first name. MacFarland = Our last name (kinda obv lmao). We specifically chose Roses' grandfather over all other family members for the following reason. When Roses' grandfather passed away, that same night in the hospital, Roses' mother looked at her and said she was having a boy. The next day, Rose got sick so we went to the doctors and found out we were having a child. A few months later, we found out it was a boy. Kinda creepy eh? xD

    Re: Countdown to Devon's Birth

No, my wife has not given birth to my son yet.

    Update for today/yesterday.

Yesterday, we helped Roses' sister move in. My wife did alot of walking. I'd say roughly 5 miles worth. After we had loaded up/unloaded the truck at the new house, we were relaxing when my wife started having contractions. They are about an hour to an hour and a half apart as of now. They also only last for about 15-20 seconds. Usually at this stage, it can take between a few hours to a few weeks. I'm praying for the few hours lmao. We'll see how today goes. If she suddenly goes into labor, I'll be sure to have DevAce come and let you guys know. Then as soon as I get home, pictures will be added. BTW, Thank you for sticky'n this. I feel even more privileged. First, appearances for my wedding and now this! You guys know how to show members you appreciate them being members. Thank you.

Wow mate, your wife is pretty active. Most pregnant women would be on bed rest, but as long as she isn't being stressed out then everything is fine I'd assume. I can't wait to see the pictures of Devon, keep us posted!
