although apparently he's bitching about the hanging - he claims that because he was in the army, he should be shot instead of hanged, as only ordinary civilians are hanged. but seeing as he's never actually been in the army, and only took the title Field Marshal when he took power and his uniform is simply for show, being hanged will add insult to injury :P

I do bad things, very bad things the only thing that causing me to do even WORSE is religion(Some kind of barrier). I don't believe too much of the Koran but it still makes me feel save at night.

It just makes the death penalty a lot easier to give knowing he isn't getting totally what he wants. He should accept the hanging as he is nothing but low life civilian. He deserves nothing better than that.

I was starting to wonder when he was finally going to get his verdict O.O

There is absolutely NOTHING you can do about it since the hanging isnt happening in the US.

There's also nothing ANYONE can do about the death penalty unless you want to complain and have your words drown in a pool of hate towards this man.

Again..it's a country outside of the "ladi la" land that you seem to think the world consists of. There are horrible people, and he is probably the worst.

Some people do deserve to suffer, Saddam does. He made alot of people suffer and got plenty of people killed. He deserve to die a slow death with alot of pain involved.

but the trial itself was total bullshit.
he was given a death sentence for a crime he committed in 1982!! a crime, that the americans had forgiven him once allready after the first gulf war, when they walked away and left him to rule...
the second case, which trial should come in a few weeks is from year 1987, whic also was forgiven to him after the war...

To me the trial seemes forced...he should have been procecuted for some of the numerous crimes he comitted after the first gulf war...

I don't think I live in fking "la la la " land or w/e, if I did this topic wouldn't have been created. If there are already horrible people, the "eye for an eye" philosophy will only make it worse. And if you want revenge so much, why is he the only one getting punished and not those who gave him enough power to do w/e he wanted?

and what if he's left alive and allowed to continue what he's doing? what then? it's fine being a pacifist and not wanting people to be sentenced to death, but if nothing is done then the situation is going to get worse. the death sentence is the better of two evils - taking someone's life, or allowing someone who will happily slaughter people to get his own way to continue doing so.

and they needed a case?? of course they did...but they could have taken one, that has been committed after the first gulf war

well that´s exactly what the Us government did after the war...

You're excluding the possibility of being put in jail.

Thing is though, if you know your about to die, you most likely will think back to the things you regret, which is why Saddam is probably saying in court that the (whoever is fighting) need to end it and get along. He probably doesn't want to be known as the man who killed probably thousands (hundreds of thousdands?).

He's more than likely just trying to get his name remembered as a man who tried to clean up his act in the last couple of months he has left. He could be just saying it to save his self, or to be known a little better than someone who killed lots of people, or he could mean it. No one knows but himself. Heh.
