    [Discussion] Saw 2

I know I'm a bit late, but I just finished viewing Saw 2.
I really thought seriously about what might have been going through John's (The killer's) head.

I think that once he got the date of his death, and the message that he was at a late stage of cancer, he realized how much life is worth and that there are some people who take it for granted. At that moment he decided to make it his mission to seek out people who are garbage - prostitutes, junkies, gangsters, criminals, etc, and give them a choice to either change their lifestyle and live, or stay garbage and die. He set the course, but he gave the victims a choice to either live or die, not really killing them himself.

This guy is obviously a genius. Someone that smart wouldn't randomly kill and play sick twisted games like that. But, is he an evil genius, or just a person who wants people to learn to appreciate life, and thinks that those who don't, simply do not deserve life.

My personal opinion is that - and don't kill me - he is correct, but not entirely. His ideas are right - people who toy with their lives and take advantage of this gift by using it for extremely negative things, really don't deserve to live. BUT... Who is he to judge? It is nature that gave them life and it is nature that decides when to take it away, and naturally, they will die a miserable death. I think that what the victims are doing to themselves is punishment enough. Criminals can never be truly happy. Druggies can never live over 60 and are quite stupid (hardcore druggies/junkes). Prostitutes are looked at by everyone as garbage, and so on.

    What do you think?

I think, that instead of him choosing to help in a more err.. 'peaceful' manner, he instead decided to put his use as a fairly mad scientist type doctor to show people a way and a side they havent seen themselves.

If you look at it from a non-judgemental standpoint from the movie, he really did try his best to help those people, it was their own choice and general stupidity that caused their own deaths, they mearly had to read the outlook and think of the first way to go about it.

In other terms from a judgemental view, he did it in a very sick way, and it might have 'saved' them in some way, but it horribly scarred them for life.

Not quite, he wasn't deranged until after the crash, so saying he deserved to die in it is unfair.

In my opinion, the dude has every right to feel contempt for those who don't appreciate life. I feel the same way most of the time, I hate seeing young kids smoking and getting wasted, or teenagers hanging out in gangs beating people up and stealing. Obviously his methods were far over the top and you can make people appreciate life in one hell of a lot of different ways.

I can see where he was coming from though. Still doesn't make it right by any means and he needed to be locked up for good if he'd survived.

i agree with you at 90%

    cos Criminals can be happy.
Druggies do live after 60 ( Look to the Rolling Stones :P ahah ) , but honestly they can live after 60 even if they hardcore druggies , just depends on their type of life , if they dont have a place to stay , dont have money nope they dont , but if they're from a rich family etc etc or have conditions yes they do

Prostitutes arent looked like garbage sorry to say that , i have some friends that are prostitutes because they needed it or they liked doing it ( and since they could enjoy it why not earning some money )

Now about the movie , the movie is damn nice , but i still prefer the 1st one :P so dont forget to watch Saw 3 :P

Some of the ideas was to create a psicologic trauma ( typo ) so that they could "wake up" from their lifes and redeempt themselves

Sometimes ppl only change after a huge Trauma

yeah hostel is pretty fucking gross, but I think the Hills Have Eyes was nasty. Saw (the first one) when I saw it (lawl puns ;P) I thought "hot damn that killer was a genius! Insane, but a genius." I really need to see Saw2 though (sorry RsX I only a tiny bit of your post to filter out any spoilers ;p....of course I don't really mind, everything linked together like one perfect jigsaw :O)

I agree, the methods are a bit harsh, but the idea is very good.

the end of saw 1 was great indeed. who could have thought that the body in the middle of the room was the killer? cheap movie, but still great and very original.

    This was a crazy movie.

The part where the girl fell into the needles...

I still kind of liked the original better, because it was a new idea for a movie (that I know of anyway) and because Cary Elwes was in it!
