Well I took a few lessons when I turned 17 (legal age in UK if you people from the US didn't already know :P) and couldn't afford to keep taking them, so I stopped. I'll just get my dad to teach me when I go off to university :D

I could have learnt at 17 but i didnt, i actually didnt start untill a few months ago, and im waiting for my mum to book my test now
ive been driving since i was about 14 i use to take my dad's car out to the town all the time. Before i was let out on my own my dad sat on with me to teach me.
There was never any guards about my town thats why i got away with it :P
at the ripe old age of 19 i have no idea how to drive a car
i also have no urge to drive a car
i walk everywhere
if its too far too walk ill get a train, boat or plane

I walk a LOT, and get rides from friends if needed.

Aye... could've had my G1 at 16 but I was playing video games too much and didn't take time to study. Here I am at 17 and I'll likely get my G1 next week. Then I have to take drivers ed so I don't have to pay a shit load for car insurance... and finally 8 months from now I'll try to get my G2 so I'll finally be able to drive by myself.

you bastards are lucky you live in cities, i live in arkansas, the only city within about 60 miles is the capital.
there are no trains, theres only one airport (in the capital naturally) thats worth a damn, the only stores we have here are two gas stations and a pizza parlor, the number of students in the high school here is 400, and your screwed if you cant drive because the hitchhikers here are all nuts.
the legal age for getting a driver's license here is 16, and 14 if you have a hardship =P
edit: if you live in america, take drivers ed because you get about a 25% discount on car insurance. when/if you get a sports car you'll be able to save quite a bit of money.. especially since males (especially teens) have the highest insurance rates in the united states.

I love driving, it gives tou the freedom you dont get from anything else, you dont have to rely on anyone to get you places

Where I live you can get a learners license at 14 then get this GDL license at 16 which lets you drive by yourself then at 18 you are a fully licensed driver which I think is the same thing as when your 16.
