Went to EDC NYC -- rolling on molly.
Hell of an experience!!
No you don't. Brand someone a scumbag because they want to have a good time at a festival? Has that word lost all meaning or do you simply not know what that is? You won't stop them but you'll openly judge & condemn them. Yea you're on such a higher moral ground.
These festivals would imagine have dozens of performers. Not even a quarter of those attending would know every single artist. You go for one or two artists you know, and perhaps find a few more you'll start liking while you're there. You're also extremely naive and obviously ignorant if you think people using drugs are not appreciating the music or enjoying it any less than a sober person would. Quite the opposite infact.
Just got back.
Reading the comments in this thread makes me sad. How can you judge something when you have no clue what you're talking about? No you're not going to know every single artist, and that's the best part. Go wander find new artists to support. I found 3 this year I never heard before. Does that mean I shouldn't go? Fuck no. Recording music is my job, and I still didn't know a few artists. Insomniac doesn't drop 32million on production to just listen to the music. Don't get me wrong, it's huge part, but the other half is the lights, rides, and the experience as a whole.
Half of your comments sound like the major news networks who report on it. Seeing it from the outside, and sounding like a fucking idiot in the process. We're judged all year for the music we love. EDC Vegas is our home, and 3 wonderful nights were we can be ourselves.
That all being said. You have every right not to like EDC, or the music. But that doesn't mean you have to be a dick about it. The only person sounding like a retarded scumbag is you.
Also a lot of new people are starting to enjoy the movement. Here's just one example from a first time EDC goer:
Quote:
This was my first EDC and I'm speechless and changed.
I've never had this much fun and good feeling that when I think back to the festival, when it ended just 9 hours ago, I feel sad and have withdrawal from the experience. Met cool people, listened to new awesome music I never thought I'd go crazy for, and danced my fucking ass off!!
Never EVER have I wanted a night to last forever. EDC causes me to forget about work, my petty problems, worlds problems, hate--all of it....the sun coming up this morning was heartbreaking to me.
i don't know if i can wait til next year...it's too long. :(
I'd love to go, if someone went with me...
I went visited it while in vegas with a relative 2 years ago, and left not long after. In short. I'd be more then happy to never experience that bull shitery ever again. Maybe it's because I'm black and seeing a large group of white kids jumping up and down like they have no common sense and "dancing" to what's "supposed" to be music looks really lame to me. Not to mention stupid. Kind of crap I saw was borderline illegal. At least it should be...
Well..
Every time I see black people in public playing music, they're always listening to rap. So by your own logic, black people not liking anything but rap isn't a stereotype.
Therefore, again by your own logic, you didn't like it because it wasn't rap.
Dumbass. :zippy:
