They said that Suspect #2 was actually seen on video placing the bomb in the bomb site, though no video was ever released of him doing so.
It still makes me wonder why the FBI never went after this man. What could have ruled him out?

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
One of my co-workers was in Boston for the Marathon to support his wife who ran in it.
He said he was about 2 blocks away when this happened. He also said that someone told his wife the day before that since she hadn't run it before she should pace herself, so she was slower than normal, which apparently was good because she wasn't there for the bombs.
He talked a lot about how the bombs went off and people just ran, like a stampede. He said it was very scary. He wasn't able to make calls or text, because he wasn't getting a signal. Likely due to lots of people trying to get through. He said they ended up walking back to their hotel, because the public transportation was down.
I just can't imagine what that must have been like, or why someone would want to do this ( in the us or anywhere).

No. The FBI has never released any leads before this, maybe you're thinking of the Boston Police Dept? The reasoning was not released. But I suspect it is because both men were shown wearing bags in footage, then later shown without them after the bombs were placed.

You can find the official FBI statement here and they say nothing of the sort.

I interpreted the statement incorrectly.
The following is what is really said on Suspect 2.
Quote:
The man identified as "Suspect 2" was seen setting down a backpack at the site of the second explosion "within minutes" of the blast, said Special Agent Rick DesLauriers, the head of the FBI's Boston office.

Yeah, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was seen on camera. It could have been a witness statement for all we know. :P:

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
FULL information linked below. YES, they were both caught on surveillance (hence the images) placing the bombs as well as leaving the site on their phones. YES, there are videos out (watch your local news).

4chan and reddit don't have the resources of the FBI.
Imagine having unlimited access to local surveillance footage along with thousands of photographs of the area being submitted to you.
The FBI didn't have a suspect until Bauman gave a physical description of the man he saw leave a backpack 2 minutes and 30 seconds before the first bomb went off (he dropped it right next to Bauman and looked right at him). That information was withheld until today.
What reddit turned into was a thousand+ man taskforce for analyzing any data made available to it. The FBI intentionally withheld information (and is still doing so). That's fine, but the internet has proved to be quite efficient at rapidly finding people. It's not always correct, but it's much, much faster than any existing police force, including the FBI, CIA, NSA, etc, primarily due to scale. The problem is that you can't do much if information is withheld.
The pictures of the suspects were reportedly to be released early yesterday, but they decided to postpone until today, and realistically they had already had the current footage you see by Tuesday evening based on Bauman's description and the recognition software they were using.
They made 0 progress on identification for over 2 days while withholding information. That's efficiency.

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
According to the police scanner (or at least people listening to it), two suspects are in custody with another suspect still in a house.
15 shots fired in past few minutes.
-
Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
Looks like the shootout and the MIT shooting are related to the bombings (so the police say).
Radio chatter has indicated that suspect #2 is definitely one of the two, and apparently they have one in custody but he's dead. There was a standoff with police. The suspects hijacked a car, were chased by police, then were seen to have grenades and potentially other IEDs and considered extremely dangerous. Then they started a shootout with the police. People have made statements that they heard loud explosions.
Can't be too sure what's going on, but the police are pretty sure they're dealing with the bombers and it's not clear if it's just 2 guys or more.
Unsubstantiated information: one is dead (or "in custody").

All this killing is over-hyped to hell. Hundreds of people die in middle eastern countries every week from the same stuff as this. 15 Police officers were executed in Syria and it didn't get one headline.

As NBC has said it might not be because they aren't American born citizens, however it's not confirmed that is or isn't him. However, it has been said over the Police scanner once but nothing confirmed.
I suggest you tune into the scanner, it'll be intense!

That's basically what happened yes, one police officer is dead, another one critically hurt, and one of the terrorist suspects is dead and the other one is currently on the run after escaping from the shootout.

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
If he's/they're on the run but Police know they did it etc. it's only a short matter of time before they all have a bullet or two inside their head and body. People sometimes get away but it's not very often at all especially with technology advancing as it is. They'll probably have the suspects either dead or in jail by the end of the weekend. Most likely dead, which I believe is giving them a favor, they should capture them and make them rot in a cell for the rest of their pathetic lives.

One is already dead (died last night). And currently they're looking for the younger one (Dzhokhar Tsarnaev).

They say there's no movement behind or around the boat but the suspect only has a wired fence behind him.
MY OPINION: Keep him alive!

They've used gas on him and there was no movement, possibly bleed out and unconscious maybe?

No, I did not make that up. Tamerlan was investigated by the FBI in 2011 because a foreign government gave a tip that he was involved in radical Islamic activities. He was cleared of any terrorist activities at the time, but he was very much an extremist. He was preparing to leave the US to join underground communities.

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
FBI — 2011 Request for Information on Tamerlan Tsarnaev from Foreign Government
Quote:
The two individuals believed to be responsible for the Boston Marathon bombings on Monday have been positively identified as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, now deceased, and Dzhokar Tsarnaev, now in custody. These individuals are brothers and residents of Massachusetts. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a legal permanent resident and Dzhokar Tsarnaev is a naturalized U.S. citizen. Charges have not yet been filed against Dzhokar Tsarnaev and he is presumed innocent.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev, age 26, was previously designated as Suspect 1, wearing a black hat. Dzhokar A. Tsarnaev, age 19, was designated as Suspect 2, wearing a white hat. Both were born in Kyrgyzstan.
Once the FBI learned the identities of the two brothers today, the FBI reviewed its records and determined that in early 2011, a foreign government asked the FBI for information about Tamerlan Tsarnaev. The request stated that it was based on information that he was a follower of radical Islam and a strong believer, and that he had changed drastically since 2010 as he prepared to leave the United States for travel to the country’s region to join unspecified underground groups.
In response to this 2011 request, the FBI checked U.S. government databases and other information to look for such things as derogatory telephone communications, possible use of online sites associated with the promotion of radical activity, associations with other persons of interest, travel history and plans, and education history. The FBI also interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev and family members. The FBI did not find any terrorism activity, domestic or foreign, and those results were provided to the foreign government in the summer of 2011. The FBI requested but did not receive more specific or additional information from the foreign government.

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
I think the way you all have been paying attention to this whole thing is not only noble but greatly respectable. It's amazing to see the power of the media, the suspects would've been found out eventually but we have to recognize that the media played a small part in finding them out, all the people behind their computers looking through all the photos and videos and stories and whatnot, that's just amazing and demonstrates just how powerful the media is.
Something goes down, 10 seconds later there's 100,000 people tweeting and posting about it. Just amazing, imagine what our great great grandparents would think (or for some of us what they do think) of today's technology and media.

He's being hospitalized? He's been officially hospitalized minutes after they captured him. He was shot in the leg and also in the neck, so it's a waiting game to see if he actually makes it out there alive. I read that he's not been given his Miranda Rights because there's an exception because of the public security or something alike, he was also flash-banged and was found by the home-owner curled up covered in blood in the boat, iirc he said he was more sad about his boat getting blood on it from Dzhokhar.
I also was reading a tweet from him saying something about being stress free, yet killing just a day later. One of his friend on twitter is also backing him up and defending Dzhokhar (I'll link soon).

Yeah, he's not being read his Miranda Rights as he's considered a threat to public safety. Which is understandable. But Sen. John McCain is attempting to take it a step further and classify him as an enemy combatant so he can be held without trial, which is complete bs since not only is he a U.S. citizen but it was a domestic attack and not an act of war. But that's John McCain for ya.

Yeah, the NDAA was complete bullshit. But most of it has already been struck down by a Federal court. As for being tried as an enemy combatant, that is entirely different. This is just the first time a few corrupt senators are attempting to use that exception against a U.S. citizen.

Re: Explosions at Boston Marathon
the thing that concerns me more is that the death toll seems to be pretty low, 3 dead 140+ injured, a death is a death regardless but compared to, say Palestine, 1.5 million dead since 1848, 5 million refugees, and more will have died and become homeless in the next few hours. my prayers are with the ones who lost family members and i wish a quick recovery to the ones who were injured, but you cant deny that the amount of media coverage given to the boston bombings was all just to cover up the bigger picture
