That's hella good for a first car.
No, Insurance is a killer and it's far too powerful for a first car.
Then you get pulled over and you're uninsured legitimately, and if the police can prove it then they'll fuck you up. Besides a 3.0 litre engine will guzzle gas like no tomorrow and be far too powerful.
Small litre, aim for a 1.4 maximum. Get one with a good Miles per Gallon rating and cheap to insure for when you crash it, which you almost certainly will.
I purchased my dream car as my first car and have never regretted it. 3.0L turbocharged V6 so it isn't light on the fuel, but i wasn't looking for an economical car.
However, that was only after i had been driving for 3 years, and after i had already been in an accident in my parents car. Being the owner of a performance car, i can tell you that you do NOT want to buy one unless you have had at least 2-3 years of driving under your belt. It's not because you're going to make mistakes, it's because you have not had the proper experience to know what to do if something goes wrong. You will obviously think the opposite, but in a time of crisis your inexperienced instincts WILL be wrong.
The insurance is a killer too, most people don't even bother getting comprehensive insurance with these cars, they just get 3rd party. $1,500 per year for insurance is not worthwhile for a car only valued at $10k.
Also the whole "I'll register/insure it under my parents name" trick doesn't work anymore, because nowadays insurance companies charge you not according to the age of the policy owner, but according to the age of the youngest driver.
$1500 AUD Rish? That's fuck all.
Try £3000 GBP to insure me on a car worth £1200
Then when you crash into someone, and there is an investigation, you'll go prison.
Or you're the one injured in the crash and the insurance won't cover you're medical expenses.
Risk you're willing to take?
Yea i know, i heard your insurance costs over there are ridiculously high.
Unlike the UK however, insurance is not mandatory. We have a 3rd party personal injury insurance included with our road registration ($480 per year), so any additional insurance is purely optional.
Getting additional 3rd party covers the other car in an accident, full comp covers your car too. 3rd party only costs like $300 though, and usually covers fire + theft too.
Then you won't be covered by the insurance. Unless the insurance policy allows cover for non-nominated drivers for an increased excess. The normal excess for me is $600 but if my girlfriend (who isn't a nominated driver) gets in an accident while driving my car, it will cost an extra $200.

it's only a v6.. fine first car if you've got the money...
I've got a mean v8 5.7ltr :).
I hate V8's, i would never get one.
I'd prefer a V6 turbocharged than a V8 any day, even if it was supercharged.
I was planning on doing an engine swap for a VQ35DE from a 350Z, but now that I'm leaving Perth i sadly have to sell my 300ZX. Will definitely get a 350Z down the track though, i can't see myself buying anythings other than a Nissan.
Audi's are quite a pain in the arse to repair. Not to mention, the 8 cylinders will suck the money right out of your wallet.
I personally think you should buy a bunky car for about $500 and practice like mad. Get 3rd party insurance on it, so even if you get in an accident no harm no foul.
It will run like a tank, cost next to nothing in fuel, and you will get a feel for the road while driving independently. After 1 year, then get an Audi and throw the other one away or keep it as a shitmobile.
Bloomin eck! that as your first car, eveyone i know for first cars have a

my first car was a 97 purple corsa , damn you!
In denmark the insurance costs more than the car lol.
Keep looking you'll get a betetr car. I mean c'mon 7,995? Hell to much bro. You'll find a good one on "autotrader.com", for 4,000 - 7,000 tbh.
UK car insurance has gone up by 40% and in some cases doubled, plus ontop of the new 20% vat rates and increasing petrol prices, driving in the UK is EXPENSIVE. At the moment by me its £1.30 a litre which is $2.02. Because of the recession in allot of cases its cheaper to buy a brand new car than second hand.
It's really bad here atm, its paid slavery.
