this is a project that has been going for a long long time however every bit of help counts.

basically you take a small program and have it running in the background of your computer working on theories and such concerning protein folding. as your computer works it sends its info back.

you can choose how much of your unused CPU the program can use to perform what it needs to 5% 50% etcetc but it will only used CPU power that isnt already taken up

persoanlly i have it running 24/7 on my 2nd pc and i turn it on and off my main dependign what im doing. if im gaming its off, browsing its on etc

now i have made a ragezone team for this too, with my 2 computers running the program the current work unit i have beens ent will be finished sat 9th may 2009....

so i need you!

it takes about 30 seconds to set up, its really really basic it doesnt even need a tutorial here, basically all u need is the team number - 50988
you also choose a username when the program is installed, again there is no messing around, it takes about 10 seconds

when you run your program go to configure and in the team section simply enter 50988 and it will get to work all on its own

I already had this program for quite some time, and i must say its quite interesting because you can see the frames your pc is sending, and it doesn't give any hinderance to games and stuff, really great program

it helps research protein folding at molecular level

basically the more people do this the more we will aid the research as a whole

this research is helping thigns like cancer research among other diseases and syndromes, but it is to do with health and our understanding of the human body as a whole

Cos from what i can see, the program runs resonably slow...so cant they just use the program and speed it up? lol

i think its FBI are trying to bug us all :)

its hard 2 understand ifu dont know about protein folding already

it is an extremely simple yet blindingly complex process of growth, not only in the human body but in any living thing

think of it this way

when then sperm meets the egg and a new life begins how does it go from that single cell to billions upon billions. but more importantly how does it know how to become what it is

why shouldnt it split into millions of single cells?
there are plenty of single cell organisms around and have been for a long time. but we arnt, we are far from it. but how does my arm form? how does a cell know to fold into part of my left index finger and not into part of my eye?

not only this, but why do cancers form?
why should my own body produce something so potentially fatal?

you see before you can fix something you must understand how it works.
th9ink about it this way, how can i fix a broken watch if i dont know how its supposed to work in the 1st place? i cant

how can we cure cancer or anything like that if we dont even understand it

this program helps simulate the absolutely countless possibilities and scenarios in cell / protein folding and only sends back the results of the tests run on your computer and nothing more

you see if every pc does an average of 4-5 frame a day, and the project has about 200.000 active cpu's thast still about 800.000 - 1.000.000 frames. you see?

I installed it before, and ran it...my comp froze, and since it kept starting up the second i started windows it kept crashing. I Had to quickly go to msconfig and turn it off...:S

oooooo gratz on our 1st work unit completed!

even my 2 accounts arnt on there yet as im working on massive work units and am yet to recieve the points for completion xD

keep that in mind guys u only get points when u finish your WU (work unit) and u wont appear on the active list in the group till u get a full WU

dont worry ifu got big WUs they give more points so it all works out
