I'm not saying it affects ALL people but have you not noticed that there are 8 year olds playing Grand Theft Auto? Does this not slightly worry you? They think its funny to go around carjacking and killing people, You're telling me this has no effect on people? While you may know the difference between What is a game and what is "Real" other people don't.
Down to the parenting - 8 year olds shouldnt be allowed to play it, its an 18 for a reason. Not only that, but they should also know that anything in the game is 1. morally wrong and 2. only a gameQuote:

But the thing is they don't know the difference and you really think they pay any atention to what their parents say? The rules should be enforced more harshly, Same sort of Scenario as Mattio, Was in GAME and a mother was standing in the que and then it came her turn to pay so the kid (looked roughly 10) rushed over and put onto the counter GTA, Resident Evil (Remake) and HL2, Then she said loudly "Are you sure this is what you want?" and the person serving her just let her have it and then he watched her give it to the son and say "You cant play them untill your Birthday ok?", Honestly if it is that obvious that the games arn't for the person buying they shouldn't be alowed to sell them, Also don't get me started on the Police.
Yeh i agree, if the game shops know its for a child (how many women play HL2) they shouldnt be allowed to sell it - there not allowed to sell alcohol to someone whos with an underage person or has no id
lol, the guys wouldn't sell me a 12 game for a freinds birthday. How ever I came back with my freind (21) and the same people served us and he knew it was for me and turned to me and said "Enjoy mate sorry about earlier it's the law". It's like. . . why go through that even though you've just sold it to me? and yes it is so obvious lol my mum turns to me and asks if it's the one I definatley want? and im like yeah yeah. . . it's just fucking stupid. And as for alcohol. . . where I used to live I could buy fags alcohol from one shop lol? as long as the money is in their pocket it's all good to them.

That's an uncontrollable factor though. The shop assistant has no right to determine who the game is for, even if it is blatantly obvious. They cannot make judgements like that without the authority. Also, what's to stop the mother coming in on her own the next day and purchasing the game for "herself" and just giving it to her son when she gets home.Quote:

I've been gaming since i was 4 years old.
I've been playing the first Doom when i was four years old, i didnt even knew what english was back then, and guess who tought me.My parents where beside me when i was killing the hordes of monsters, telling me what to do to get through the level.They where the ones that pushed me further into video games.I turned out fine, im not a violent person (by nature at least), i havent done any illegal (well except those minor stealings when i was little xD ), heck, i even protect the kids that get bullied.
In the end it comes down to the kid.If its fucked up - one way or anothe - his gonna do a fucked up thing.No matter what games he play, no matter what he ate for breakfast, no matter when he took a shit
I don't think it's down to games and films that kids play/watch. It's down to how well they're looked after by their parents. If the parents neglect their child from an early age, they will feel unwanted and will seek attention. This usually includes rebelling against society and becoming a "yob/chav".
It's so common in places like Middlesbrough (my beautiful home town), due to the high number of teenage pregnancies. People are having kids at too young of an age and don't know how to handle it. They end up not giving a fuck what their kids get up to and that's why they turn out like they do.
These kids also end up hanging around with other kids in similar situations and experiences. Therefore the urge to rebel is multiplied by the pressure of their peers.
This particular case actually occured down the road from where I live, pretty frightening really.

I'm tired of people picking on smaller kids. If i saw a older kid or guy beating up a smaller kid i would beat the living s*** out of him. Although then of course may be the older kid was defending himself. You never can tell.......
