Different people come here for different things - I stay inside the confines of the mir3 section myself and have looked at A3 and 1003b Section, so to me RZ was a place for the latest and greatest server code with lots of discussion on how to do stuff.

Now taken for example the MIR3 section - this is like a ghost town now as the people who were in the know have moved on - where to - who knows. You get the odd post of "where can i get this..." and so forth - anything more technical is often not answered which is fine i guess. The 1003b Section seems to have also died and that looks a good game to progress on.

Im definatly missing something through - a forum - even a very popular one does not eat up 1000gig a month bandwidth - so what else is the bandwidth used for? I am missing a big part of RZ here?

if every1 thats online clicked on the enter button on http://tc.lozworld.co.uk/ad.php once a day, i would send u so much money that u would last another 10 years <_<

well since mu is dead , since mu97 and nothing gets out ( new ) it should be down ,

as far the other servers also


for instance A3 , its incomplete the version , it can be closed down , Mu , the free private servers are also over , beside if that this stage they cant make 1 , then they suck

We need to make a check on all server foruns , and disable what we dont need

my idea: get rid of useless sections (just figure out which ones aren't doing any good for RZ, like akaruz pointed out) and put up a mir2 server :P j/k.. kind of..

First off i did say sorry for quoting bandwidth - this was the first thing that sprang to mind. My thoughts were this - what is Ragezone - its a forum on the web for discussing ideas, sharing code and so on. Now i asked if i was maybe missing out on something here cos there must be more to Ragezone then the forum if you need a whole server located somewhere to provide this forum.

Now if there is more than the forum then fine but maybe not everybody knows about it (cos i certanily dont) and my point was valid - to run a forum only requires not a whole box located in a fast connection owned by yourself but space can be bought at a much cheaper option - thus RZ can live.

Im not having a go at any single human bean on the planet - so please dont get annoyed at my statements above - if someone could tell me what else is on offer then maybe more people might pay some dosh.

I have no issues with things costing money by the way - VB licence cost money, that machine your hosting it on costs money and so on. What i was saying is there is alternatives - Ragezone the domain is already paid for I gather - VB is not the be all and end all of Forum software - there is free alternatives and hosting can be done either by cheaper space (a lot cheaper) or even from a home connection for that matter.

You should Drop the MU section like a sack of shit tbh.

Your missing his point - He pays each month for dedicated server hosted on a very fast connection, probably running a linux of some sort. What you get with this in effect is your very own PC but has the benifit that you have a bigish HD in there (40 gigs let say) and XXX amount of Bandwidth (normally lots).

Now this sort of Setup is ideal as you can host off that box a fair few web sites (Resell then), run Voice chats, game servers (has to be linux version though such as CS) and so forth.....

We could have 1000 sections on here it would not make one bit of difference to the hosting option - with no job whatsoever then finding the money to pay for that along with all the other bills just aint going to happen. What does this mean for Ragezone then? Well lets say not enough people pay money and he cannot afford to pay for another month - then this site will drop off the web so to speak, the domain name remains his, but the space as not paid for will not be there.

My Suggestions were to think about what Ragezone is - lets take as a example the pure forum side - so im in google and come across a fair few out there offering this service :

$19.95/mo.
4 gig web sapce (more than enough to host the forum by a long shot even with attachements)
100 gig Bandwidth a month
25 ftp accounts.
Supports ASP, MySql, PHP 4.3.1, cold fusion - the lot man.

Now $19.95/mo. is a lot less than $160 dont you agree?
All it would take then is like 20 people to donate $1 and jobs done.

Now thats on the blickered view of only the forum, i understand that RZ hosts CS Servers, probably has a few people hsoting off it as well and so on. You of course wont get this from the above option - probably why the dedicated server route was taken.

So pointless posting saying take this section off etc as that is not the whole picture - maybe charge for going on CS servers (cos i dont agree that people who only use the forum should pay towards something they dont use).

Last time I did, I got laughed at. That isn't why I'm not donating this time, it's for reasons I've already said. I wish I had a way to fix the problem, but I don't :(

just to add, ive got all the love for most of the ppl of rz, for what mental has accomplished along with others that have helped him..

MentaL, if you own the server, then is the money needed for the connection or something?

I still dont understand myself - I dont play CS and i never played any RZ server, if the database is 10 gigs then maybe im been stupid cos im sure there aint 10 gigs worth of posts on here.


The bottom line i see it as this:

You have no money to pay for your dedicated server - your asking people to pay to keep Ragezone online so to speak. Maybe some will pay, maybe some wont but there is more than Ragezone out there in internet land for forums - we already seeing no stuff for a lot of the servers and people like myself anyhow just visit the chinese forums to get the latest stuff anyhow.

I would love to have a dedicated server with Loads of bandwidth but real life dictates that Food, bills and all other stuff gets in the way - so i make do with that i can afford or host myself.

Get a cheaper dedicated pc (I saw one for 30$/month not long time ago), and use a cheaper skin with a mod that makes so u use less bandwidth .... that might do the trick :moon:

Hey mental Actually I have found a ton of crap just like this, I think one was Canaca, they have Great deals and a lot of crap all dedicated and such, although don't have to use vBulletin, go use Invision Board, it is free and good, it may say it costs money, but go to the beta, then download, and just download 1.3 which is the full release, or the beta 2, beta 2 is nice, but 1.3 is stable as hell and never a problem, beta 2 has no problems for me either, but nobody is me but me =|, also, I can help with the costs, I could hook you up with a server easy peasy, just message me on MSN, I got hook ups bro, Major hookups if you catch my drift, my friend can give you more bandwith than a High quality porn site for dirt cheap

yea but who cares about MU if they want to have a server, they can go elsewhere since if that section alone is sucking up all of everything, then that can make it really bad.
