    GAH. x___x''.

    SO.
I have decided to learn korean.
Its the easiest of the asian languages (plus bigbang is korean *squeal*).

If i can learn korean then i can certaintly learn any other language.
Which kinda got me to thinking why my parents have been in america for 12 years but only know a few words.

    Well, because im a curious little cat, i decided to investigate and this is why the english language is so hard to learn;

    * We polish the Polish furniture.

    * He could lead if he would get the lead out.

    * A farm can produce produce.

    * The dump was so full it had to refuse refuse.

    * The soldier decided to desert in the desert.

    * The present is a good time to present the present.

    * At the Army base, a bass was painted on the head of a bass drum.

    * The dove dove into the bushes.

    * I did not object to the object.

    * The insurance for the invalid was invalid.

    * The bandage was wound around the wound.

    * There was a row among the oarsmen about how to row.

    * They were too close to the door to close it.

    * They sent a sewer down to stitch the tear in the sewer line.

    * To help with planting, the farmer taught his sow to sow.

    * The wind was too strong to wind the sail.

    * After a number of Novocain injections, my jaw got number.

    * I shed a tear when I saw the tear in my clothes.

    * I had to subject the subject to a series of tests.

    * How can I intimate this to my most intimate friend?

    * I spent last evening evening out a pile of dirt.
No wonder english is so hard to learn . I'm glad i learned it while i was still young. :)

oh yes and wish me luck in succeeding because that would be the nice thing to do.

I wish you a lot of luck. :shy:
I'm korean myself, and I find it's easy to actually learn, even looking it from the outside point of view.

You don't need Big Bang. Haha.

But as you learn, look back at this thread, and tell me if you can read it, without using a translator.

    안녕하세요.

Oh. By the way, if you happen to visit Korea, just heads up about all the weird people there. it's normally just the weird Asian culture itself.

    Aww thank you. .

Oh i'm not learning it just for big bang. The asian culture has always fascinated me. Its rich in tradition and color. (plus the asian chicks are really cute ). Japanese is too hard to learn as well as chinese. Taiwanese i would assume is too.

One day, i will come back and tell you exactly what that says. .

And err, yes i know. I'm weird myself but im open to the weirdness in asia. usa is number one in trend setting and we view other cultures to follow our 'cool' so i can see how people would think asia is weird, haha.

    MMOs am i right?

Japanese is too hard to learn as well as chinese. Taiwanese i would assume is too.
japanese is close to korean, so it ain't hard either.
taiwanese is different to what your thinking...more so they are called mandarin/chinese there as well.
the true "taiwanese" language is mostly only spoken by older generation and sounds alot close to japanese... [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwanese_Hokkien[/ame]

SEE I HAVE PLENTY OF REASONS TO LEARN KOREAN. xD

Thats what i ment. If i learn one language in the asian...area then its probably easier then to learn the rest.

You're right, too. I hear many Japanese words that are in Korean also that mean the same thing, but that's because Koreans and Japanese were once together, which you probably already know.

    That's pretty true.
Like if you already know English, you might know some Spanish, or the other way around. Knowing some Spanish will help you know a bit of English. Cognates. The difficult part about you learning a totally new system of language and mannerisms, without any cognates to help you, is the difficult part. Other wise, anyone can learn easily.

This is what gets me. The schools over here pick either German, French or Spanish to learn and i got French. After 4 years of learning i have forgot already and didnt know much to begin with. In other countries like Japan etc, they learn our language very fast and an speak it so well - it takes me a while to think.

I know what you mean, I got good grades in both French and Welsh and I wouldn't have a clue what someone was saying if they just popped up trying to start a convo with me in either language.

I've tried learning Mandarin but fuck me it's so hard I gave up. I'm now trying to learn Italian and then thinking of Japanese after that (For the anime and manga mostly :P)

    Hangul is Korean.

And Korean is no where near similar to Chinese. I know that for sure.

Saying that is like saying, French and Japanese are very similar.

Anything that can be close to Korean is Japanese.

jap is close to chinese in one style. old taiwanese speak hokkien, a dialect, not a language. taiwan people use traditional chinese, which is an older form of chinese. current chinese use simplified chinese, which, is well, simplified.

there are a lot of chinese dialects, which are not "learnable" without much chinese background. there is hokkien, teochew, hainanese, cantonese and much more.

sorry, only know chinese. just clearing up some misconceptions.
