I missed this thread. Probably because I was on vacation over the last few days. I find it amusing and therefore I would like to contribute.
I have certainly seen a fair share of girls who come and highly advertise the fact they are female for attention. I guess that's not really me. I mean, occasionally I have let some perverted details slip out for example, Triumph would tell you of my love of Purple Rabbits. I don't really care, to me that's all in jest. I don't feel I have to prove my femininity to any of you.
I am a programmer for a living, writing in PHP and C# mostly these days. I enjoy playing MMORPGs a lot, currently AION, previously Lineage 2, and I've played a lot of others: Maplestory, Cabal, MU online, Flyff, Ether Saga, blahblah. I usually play a healer or summoner type class.
I've also played Battlefield 2, 2142 and currently I play Bad Company 2. I used to play CSS (not source.) I'm not the best player, but I have a great time.
So for real, geek girls do exist. I just don't believe you'll see any of the truly geek girls flaunting their femininity. I would bet most of them just want to be themselves and hang out with the guys without being harassed.
I personally have met a lot of amazing and wonderful people online and many through some connection to ragezone. I've met several people over the last 2 years in person as well. I didn't do it by attention whoring.
So for all the real females out there: just relax and be yourself.
And if not, well you serve as some great entertainment for the rest of us. :lol:
