Glasgow is more violent than New York?

I'm gonna upload a clip from local radio station Real Radio. It's just generally about how the Scottish Government is trying to help out with Project Glasgow and Project Springburn. It also states in that clip about Glasgow being more violent than New York. I need to do it through RapidShare as RaGEZONE doesn't allow you to upload sound files :/

Well, they say, that the United Kingdom is becoming more like America, which is true, but now it being worse in Glasgow? Wow, wtf is this world coming to?

I live in glasgow, have done all my life. I live near a place called Barlanark/Easterhouse. This is full of 1980's council housing, and this is the glasgow ghetto. Its in a terrible state.

Even though people say, how can glasgow be more violent than New york? Its very easy. NY has police, everywhere you look. In scotland, we dont. We have the odd policeman, sitting in a patrol car, but they dont really do anything.
Glasgow, is a shitehole.

I beleive that one road in kentish town london has a higher murder rate than new york city.

we just don't advertise the killings.

lmao, i live 10-15 mins from kentish, didnt think it was that bad, kilburn where i live practically seems worse then there.

but yea, up north it does get quite nasty, never been but heard alot of storys.

its all due to kids carrying knives and stuff around, to either keep themselves safe or to cause trouble

Just had a quick bash through that Wiki page on Barlanark, never knew Tam McGraw was on the BAR-L Team.

For those of you who don't know who Tam McGraw is, read here. Tam was one of the biggest mobsters in Glasgow, along with people like Paul Ferris, Arthur Thompson and all of the Young Teams that make up Glasgow's crime.

Oh hell yeah. Did you hear about Tam McGraw's funeral?

I think Paul Ferris attended it, but I know alot of gangland figures were there.
