good luck! I'll be thinking of u guys!

i can only be there from 9am to 8pm and after i got to go home. When in active labour i can go back at any time.

Not only that, they would provide you with a place to sleep- a fold out couch, lazy-z-boy recliner chair or something, might not be comfortable. I've also seen the nurses bring guys pillows and blankets for them to sleep.

You have the right to be there as long as you want when you're the father.
They can't send you home if you want to be there to support your wife.

Except she wasn't in labour yet and we have a very stretched healthcare system.

I did read. I was merely comparing it to the way it works in my country, where to-be-fathers can support their wife in the hospital when they feel necessary, even when she's not in labour.

I guess it's an american thing :D

I think it would be mental torture for the father if they were sent home, while there wife/girlfriend is in the hospital, especially what if there was a car jam or something, and missed the birth? I wouldn't be able to do it.
