    Got a job...

Working at Autozone warehouse.. ..10 hours a day on my feet, I'm dying...

cleaning, and starting Monday I will be painting out in the heat, I don't know if $8.50 a hour for 10 hours a day (for 4 days) is worth it sometimes!!

It's a temp job, if I do a good job, I can get on full time at 12.50 a hour.. but I don't know, I'm not a manual labor type of guy. I'm a computer guy got damn it...

5 blisters, swollen and bruised legs, and bloody sock later..

"Paper or plastic?" Ha ha :P

That's work, Keith. My temp. job is a bitch. I mean 90+ degree weather, starting work at 5 AM, working until 2/3 PM, moving shit that weighs 100+ pounds outside nearly all damn day. And minimum wage as well. But the way the economy (especially related to getting work) still is here, plus you got a baby, I wouldn't quit 'till you started a better job. I wouldn't risk it, at least.

Meh, the temperature here on regular days is around 90 degrees.

And heck, you guys get much higher pay compare to Malaysians, our normal part time jobs is about RM5-10 per hour. And getting 10 is real real hard.

    So?

The economy's are completely different. You earn less, but things in Malaysia are extremely cheap as compared to the US, so the difference in wages doesn't mean anything.

The average wage here in Australia is over $55,000 but even though our dollar is stronger than the USD, the cost of living here is SIGNIFICANTLY higher.

The average rent is over $25,000 per year, while the average mortgage cost is over $35,000 per year. A 3 bed 1 bath house in a mid-class area will still cost you at least $350,000-500,000.

Normal costs of living are inflated also; Groceries + fuel + electricity + water + internet + phone very easily comes up to over $1,500 per month, for 3 people.

Some people will find those figures to be very high, while others will find them to be rather low. It simply depends on the country.

My car needs 98 octane, so that's about an extra 15 cents per liter :P

    Re: Got a job...

Well when I have plenty of work I make a good $3k a week, working around 60hrs/week.

When I don't have work I make next to nothing. :\

    Music Business is haarrd.

I'm also going back to school to get another degree. So by the end of next year I'll have 2 bachelor degrees.

    Re: Got a job...

So.. I'm curious... is this your FIRST job? Its sounding like it is, and you are 22 or so, correct? No room for complaining, I've been working construction since early high school - then got a second job working as a Lead for an Audio/Visual & Conference Services company... 100% physical labor for the last 10+ years - you do what you need to in order to earn a living.. yes, the economy is a bit lower then the norm right now, but its lucky to even have a job much less keep it - so take those complaints, stuff them where the sun dont shine.. and keep working till you (may) find a better job.
