Yes it's a style, but me stickin my foot in my ass and puttin one arm in the air whilst shakin left to right is a dance STYLE, but not a very good one at that.

apart from that, it does take talent... dance/trance is not all about some tune that just gets repeated over and over again, though i'll admit it's commonly done in the genre (and i dont *always* like it) there is, as there is in any style, good and bad dance music...
you can't fully enjoy dance while just sitting there... it's all about rythm and making people want to dance to the beat... hence the name... makes people trance out
as a dj you need a lot of skill to make good dance music... not everyone can do it

either way everyone has diff taste in music and i dont expect you to like it either way... but you just cant say that anyone can do it and that it doesnt require talent... because i KNOW that a lot of trance out there is just bad... but again, just like any style...

eg. i hate stuff like slip knot etc, but that doesnt mean that "anyone can just scream like that"... some people like their style, i dont.. simple as. but i wont deny that they're good... else there wouldnt be as many fans :)
same for dance... it's very popular in the netherlands/belgium... best sold music dvd here is (pretty sure), like it or not, dj tiesto in concert (true dance/trance)

You make a good point, but i'll stick by my opinion that 95% of trance music is shit, and youve near enough agreed that most of it is. Yeah it takes SOME talent, but its more knowledge than actual talent, you just need to know how to do it. If you like it then fair enough, i'm not gonna say that its all shit, some of it is good, but id rather eat a baboon testicle than have to suffer 3 hours of that shit, id 'trance' alright, into complete insanity.

hey people... Dont wana act all opinionated... but come on...... saying that a music style is shit is way to ott. If it was shit then it wouldent be a style - theres allot of styles i dont really like. e.g. i dont really like rap that much. Ive listend to it allot and it has to be said that i think 95% of that is utter shit. there are a few tracks that are VERY good but others just really are the same boring rubbish.

Music is such a strange thingy because soooo many people like different types of tunes... I can see the attraction in allot of styles. And theres not one type of music that i think is total crap. I accept that because as long as it has a beat that keeps with the rythem of the track then its all good.. im a little drunk i admit but hey....

Just think that saying that you should never dismiss a style just coz you dont really like it. Trance isnt a load of computer generated crap. To put that 'crap' together in the right way does require talent belive it or not. Hence why you get different DJ's. Allot of DJ's are just simple mixers and dont do much more than just track transitions. Others (like DJ Tiesto) are very talented. They can not only do the perfect transition but also create there own songs useing samples from different people. Im just saying theres allot more to it than meets the eye. These people do need some respect. I mean....... do you think you could fill a stadium with 25,000 people for one show with one DJ? I doubt it!

Saying all that.... Rock will always live strong in my heart. Its my first ever style that ive liked and will always stay with me. Hell.... i still think the best band in the world is MUSE!!!

Just please oh please.. dont say trance / dance is rubbish coz it DOES require allot of skill :)
