Growing up too fast?

Well, today I got a letter back from a college I applied to back in February. I applied for a course that was only available to 500 students across the state of Texas. It allows you, once you finish your high school sophomore year, to live in a dorm on their campus to finish your junior and senior high school years, while at the same time, doing your freshman and sophomore college years. It wont be any more work, just a little harder with you getting double the credits. If I go through with it, I'll finish up high school in 2010 and be able to go to college as a junior. I'll have my bachelors degree in music by the time I'm 20 at the end of the spring semester in 2013. From there, I'll go on to either teaching private lessons or directing a small scale high school band by the time I'm 22 or 23.

I've been having doubts about not being able to fully enjoy the last few years as a teenager. Any opinions on this? Am I 'growing up too fast'?

sure, you will miss alot but in a long run you will be better off and if you like what your doing then whats 2-3 years when you enjoy your ENTIRE LIFE

Take the chance.

You might loose your last years as a teenager.

But the faster your graduated, the faster you can get a job.

And with a good job you'll be able to enjoy the rest of your life. :)

You'll only regret it for the rest of your life if you don't put the time in now. Sure you'll miss out on your last few years as a teenager, and I understand how you'd feel put off by this because you won't get those years back.

But your future is more important, and if you want to provide for that future you want then certain sacrifices must be made. The harsh reality is my friend, that nothing in this world ever comes for free. I do wish you good luck though in whatever you decide to do.

im getting the same feelings right now man. these last few years are like wow, it's over. Should i enjoy the last years with my friends in my community, or get my sh*t together and start and prepare for the rest of my life. So much going through my mind haha

Meh, from my personal experince, you can take any phase of life at any given age. I wasted a few years doing nothing, then restarted my life and I've been having so much fun with people a few years younger than me, but it wouldn't be possible if I hadn't tuned to that way of thinking. I just wanted to feel the thing I had missed. Age is never a problem, but as with your tight schelude, try to have fun, at least you won't have to come back to a phase later.. which on the other hand isn't such a bad thing after all.

My best advice, don't worry about what society or family expects of you, just do what you enjoy. It's not a question of age, credits, money, or anything. Just do what you enjoy, it'll pay back later in life when you'll be a successful, content man.

You're doin it good. It aint fast. If you feel it' fast, then I say the faster the better.
Once you're done with the learning part, It's just life to live .. and You'll just be able to live more .. :D ... Get on with it and get over with it as fast as u can.

I kinda screwed up my school days, but I had an amazing time. Currently at uni now, just started late. I think both ways could be great, you never know what life is going to throw at you and everything will happen for a reason, just do what you think is right.
