    Health Care and the U.K

Is it true that if you live in the U.K you receive free health care?
And if it is what else is there? Dental as well?
Just wandering because I was watching a documentary and thought why not ask the people of Ragezone since most people I see here are from the U.K.

Goddamn, Its the United States of America, and they can't make sure their people stay in good health. :/

My question still stands if the U.K gets free dental as well.

Australia provides medicare and healthcare support. It does not make everything free, but very cheap and affordable. Doctors visits are free, public hospitals are free, all prescription medicine is below $5, and about 85-90% of dentist bills are covered for. Over the past fortnight i've required 2 fillings, i got then both done for $20 each (original price is around $180 each), and every teenager is sent out "vouchers" from medicare which fully covers the cost of a dentist checkup every year.

Additionally, medicare also covers about 75% of the cost of seeing a psychiatrist or counselor/therapist (you pay full amount, you just walk into the medicare office and they reimburse you 75% of it on the spot) and covers the full cost of getting ultrasounds/x-rays/CT scans/ect.

Private health cover is also very affordable, full cover is about $20 per fortnight per person, which fully covers all ambulance bills, private hospital bills, surgery, as well as covering about 75% of the cost of glasses and fully covering the cost of contact lenses. It also adds additional subsidy to more expensive dentist procedures which are not covered by medicare/healthcare.

I hear about people being on 5 year waiting lists for dental procedures in the USA, and i cringe; i made an appointment on Friday and got the appointment for Monday. I really have no idea how the health system over there got so bad... Land of the free? More like Land of the toothless tbfh.

We don't really get free dental just a reduced fee. Same with opitican and referrals.

NHS which is our healthcare is free but at the same time we still need to pay a standrad price towards prescriptions and a few other things such as Ultrasound pictures during pregnancy.

Like EK says, you pay for dental but at a reduced price. However I know that in university's you can get it done for free, but I presume that's the same as everywhere.
