it influences kids to know how to use guns and since his dad obviously has some guns he might even use it.

The kid should not have to learn how to handle a gun. He should learn, at a later age, why guns are bad.

Disagree? Let the facts speak for themselfs: this very week some idiot in America, the land with the most guns / people, started killing people in a school. America has more murders per citizen then any european country, including Russia. Almost all those murders are comitted by guns.

Guns SHOULD NOT be common. They should never even come into the posession of anyone but law enforcement or military personal, with perhaps an exception for sporting rifles - though no automatics - you do NOT need an Ak47 to kill deer, no matter what you think.

Why should you even want a gun? For protection? Thats the dumbest idea ever! If I do not have a weapon of any kind, and someone mugs me, they will get at most $20 or so (I never cary more) and maybe my watch or so. They will have no reason whatsoever to inflict harm on me. Now, what do you think happens when you try to pull your gun? Either you kill that other guy, or he kills you (or maybe just wounds you, but at short range most bullet wounds will be in the torso, a rather lethal place to get shot). Loss: 1 human life at best. Does it really matter whose life? Is the life of a criminal worth less to you then the few bucks you carry around? Especially when you can insure yourself for that? Unless you're a psychopath, that answer should obviously be no.

In every situation where you should want to protect yourself, you can always only protect yourself once you've accertained the threat. That means, not untill you are actually threatened. Ergo, the other guy will almost always have pulled his gun before you. Also, since he's a criminal and you're not, he will most likely be better able to handle his gun in stressfull situations. Now, what do you think are the odds of you killing him before you kills you? For all but the best trained professionals, you will have a very, very small chance of being the first to incapacitate the other. Anyone feel like gambling with their life when the odds are against..?

imo , young kids should not even learn how to hold a gun .

I haven't even seen a real gun in my entire life (only on TV) and I'm glad I didn't tbh... Why would I need a gun? =/

It really is better to teach them young. And not to mention guns is the cultrue of the south in the states. You need them and you need to know how to use them. There's lots of harmful animals in the south and that's where guns take a major role. You need a way to defend yourself. What would you do if a bear comes into your house? Stab it with a knife?

The people that live in thoes types of areas of course have guns and uses them often. Either to defend themself from wild animals or to hunt for food. So by teaching a child at a young age, they would be able to grow up and respect it and not abuse it. Just like with a car. You are tought at a young age on the due or don'ts. So why not do the same to guns?

I myself was tought how to use a gun when I was 10. It thought me what to do with one and what not to do with one. Then when my father used one for the first time in his life at 51 he had no concern on how to properly use it.

That's the thing about teaching young. You'll know what to do with it and wont missuse it when you are older.

Now what about the mid-west and south of the states? How do you tell them they are no longer allowed to use guns? In the areas where you actually need to? Without guns how can they protect their live stock from preditators? Many are the time you find a wolf tearring apart your pigs and goats. Now without a gun how will you prevent it? Not much can you do now is there?

What about finding things in your house? Like poisonous snakes, deer, bear, mountain lions, bob cats, etc? Now when you are outside of the city/metro area they are normal to find and often are in your house. So how you get them out? Them to shoo and have them attact you?

You see. Guns are in the states not for protection againt bad people. Hell it's hard as hell and nearly impossible to buy guns in the north most of the time. You need to have a permit for each gun, a licenses to own it, a license to carry it, and need it to be inspected all of the time. So the people say they are needed to protect themselves from bad people are just silly. They sole purpose of them isn't to protect against humans but to protect against animals. Which is what happens with 99.9% of the guns in the states that's owned by civilians.

That's the reason to teach them young. So they wont do that. The people who are the ones that become crazy are the ones who wern't exposed to it until they are in their teens or adult.

When you are tought young you learnd the do's and don'ts of guns. Learn how to respect and treat them. So that when you are older you wont abuse and missuse them.

If you look into it. The people who actually use guns to kill other people are the ones that are either not educated at all of them at an early age or are just mentally unstable. And an mentally unstable person shouldn't even have one to begin with. Which in the north (where most of the shootings do not take place) you need to be assessed by a doctor to prove your metal stability to even allowed to be near one. It's a shame that it's not the case in the south.

Actually for 10 years automatics where banned in the states. And they will probally be banned again for 10 more years when there's another Democrat president. Even then to get an automatic you need special permit and licenses. They are avaliable but it's hard as hell for even law enforcements to get and even harder for civilians.

Just about the only way to get an automatic weapon in the states is either illegally (which happens in every country) or if you are ex-military.

And what about farmers and people who live in the woods/mountains? Why shoulnd't they have guns (which the majority of gun owners in the stats are)? They are the ones who uses them the most and they actually need it to defend themselves and their livestock from preditators.

If you live outside of any urban area you do need a gun in the states. Just like you would 200 years ago. There's wild animals and you need to protect yourself from them.

Why should you want a gun? What about if you live out in the mountains and you are attacked by a wild cat? You got two options. Shot it or be mauled to death. I myself would pick shoot it.

I agree that guns shouldn't be allowed in Urban areas. There's no need for them outside of law enforcments. And that's how it's becomming in the states now. If you ever tried to buy a gun in an urban area, it'll probally take you up to 6 months to get it. If you're lucky that is.

But on the other hand if you live in rural areas. You do need it from protection. Protection from animals. Lots of people never realise how harsh living in rural areas is. Why should you really? You're used to an urban area and have no intrest at all in rural areas. But there are the people that grows your food and raises the meat you eat and they are the ones that needs guns.

Yet again you argur about instances where you are mugged. But what about the instances where you are in the country side and are attacted by an animal or see one preparing to attack you? That's where guns really come into play for protection.

Many are the times I've seen my family fanced in thoes situations and if they didn't have a gun to protect themselves they would have been killed.

Guns are not always about people vs people. They are used in most cases to protect people from nature.
