How does the ranking work?

I wanna know because I have been seeing mods rank go down and other people like alfons go up to mod, How does the ranking work? If there's a thread already about this please give me a link or tell me where it is, Thanks

Mods & Legends are chosen by higher-ups.
Others are by donating/postcount.
Purple = RZ Games Dev.

There usually is a legend at the bottom but i don't think mental has had time or probably forgotten about it.
