this 1 is ratehr different to other "predictions" 2012 for a start is the end of the mayan long count calender, the reason this is significant is because of the sheer accuracy of the mayan calenders and their knowledge of things their "primitive" society shouldnt have had access too

in a nutshell the mayans teach that at the end of every long count the world is destroyed and reborn again. simple enough really and easy to pass off as primitive mythology
but when a primitive civilization knew the exact dimensions of our sun hundreds of years before we did, we have to pay attention when they make certain statements
they knew the world was not flat and knew profound things such as the weight of the earth and the length of the solar year correct to within decimal points of what we measure it as now, this for me is another point that makes me think, maybe they knew a lot more than historians like to make out
what if all the way accross the atlantic similar statements and the same knowledge is shared by other "primitive" civilizations like the Dogon of Africa who in recent times shared knowledge of the star sirius, knowledge of its orbit and all its characteristics, including knowledge of its partner Sirius B which is actually completely invisible to the naked eye, which at the time was not known to classical western scientists. discovered by western scientists years later the Dogons knowledge was confirmed, they also say they is a 3rd star Sirius C which still remains unconfirmed to us at this time. the reason the dogons were so interested in the star sirius was because that is where the "gods" came from and bestowed the knowledge upon them.
now it is also interesting to note how the egyptians also placed a lot of importance on sirius and its system, infact the great pyramid of Giza has a shaft that points out directly towards it, and this is where the souls of the departed Phaoroas would go to join the Gods.
when socrates travelled to egpyt the high priests mocked the greeks knowledge of the world and mocked him with their tales of how the world has been destroyed and rebuilt many times before
the reason why this is all so important is because all the ancient knowledge seems to be connected, even with civilizations on opposite sids of the world, you only have to look at stories and fables of places like Atlantis and Lemuria to have your curiosity kicked into a higher gear but when long dead civilizations seem to have knowledge far exceeding ours it is not so stupid to listen to other things they have to say that we may not quite understand yet.
my personal feelings on 2012 are that it will be a great shift in conciousness for the earth. every time the earth has been "destroyed" in the past it has been in a different way, the last was by water, a great deluge - see noah for a common reference, also see the himalayas for deposited fossils of sea creatures etc
this time it will not be so much a great destruction by fire or water but the earth itself will begin to change, those who are ready will be able to change with the earth and move onto a greater level of conciousness and those who arnt will simply die and move onto another world that will suit their levels of conciousness and awareness so they can grow and develop as souls in their own time in an environment that will better suit them

I remember a looongg time ago I saw an equally reputable special on Television about the Egyptian pyramids and how they unlocked the secret to our future.
in one of them if you measured between the start and the end if you did it in a certain way at the year 2000 it ended in a huge gaping hole!
Some other things they found suggested the same thing. So surely the year 2000 was the end of the world
We are humans. Unlike other animals we have intellegence to know that our demise is imminent.
So human nature is, we want to know what happens when we die. We want to seek out answers of when we will die. So some people dedicate their lives to interpreting the past trying to seek answers for the future.
Anyway who knows I thought we were going to die from some big meteor hitting us.
In my opinion the sooner our inevitable fate arrives, the better. Thus shall I sleep undisturbed for the first time of my life.

I've read every single word in that article and I'm not sure whether I should believe that or not. Something will change but whether it's going to doom us or not is unclear. I only know one thing: We can't change it so it would be useless to debate about it for over 4 years now wouldn't it?

the thing is that we can and are changing it right now, every second we are making decisions that will influence the rest of our lives, we make ripples that effect those around us who in turn effect those around them.
4 years is both a long and a short period of time, we can make a huge difference between now and then and why not? if we are always cahnging our lives for the better surely this cannot be a bad thing?

I did read some articles about it, but its based on nothing. Its now just a hype with a lot of attention.
As for Mayan people: they had a calender based on the stars, for them and their theory the world would end as they had different thoughts of what planets are and did and especially the sun was important. But we know more about it now, than they did. All religions are based on very very old stories, most of them coming from egypt. This is just another one...

There Are Some Truth About This, Throughout The Years The "Oracles" As They Said Were Right About Everything Except The End Of The World.
Everytime These "Oracles" Predicited The World Was Going To End It Didn't Happen. The Is Truth To This But Also False Things Aswell, As Far As My Thoughts Are.. It May Happen. I Have Doubts But Also Have Abit Of Scared Thoughts.
