Haha Hymen I'm just messing with ya buddy.
You could be sat on your arse claiming on your goverment like allot of other scroats.
Security Guard? That must be one of the coolest jobs... And I see you'll have money for the car and house in no time! (Or have you solved that problem already?)
was gonna pay $1000 a month to pay them off quickly but after explaining my circumstances they agreed to $200 a month. Yes it will take longer now but removes ALOT of stress.
coolest? iono bout that, but it really does feel good to be in the role of an authority figure. nowhere as close as the authority police have, but then they have so much more work to do than we do that i'm glad i'm not one :P and it gets so borring at times lol but friday and saturday nights provide me with enough drunk people to stay amused lol
Ah right just lately I've been looking into trying to get into Security work as I know a few people who do it, these days over here Doormen don't like the term bouncers as that was the name that was given to them in the old days when it was common to send people skidding out of the pub on their face.
So they are now known as Doormen.
I personally would love to do work at Pubs & Clubs, how ever when doing work on places like building sites or schools is minimum wage and incredibly boring.
Sounds like you have a pretty decent setup, over here doing security work in bad neighbourhoods is more or less pointless as all the drunken fools are normally in groups of 10+ and it's pointless talking to them.
Sorry for the long post :) out of interest, what sort of qualifications did you have to obtain / courses you have to go on?
Why would you receive higher pay from a club owner to get rid of drunks, than you would from a milti-million dollar building company who wants to protect their assets? Over here you get paid more for the buildings cos if that building really needed security when its under construction, then there is allot of trouble there.
I'm fine and have a rep going with the people there and they know i dont want trouble so they leave me alone. but theres another guard there sometimes who has a guard dog and a metal baseball bat and he gets pelted with bricks and had his car set on fire. you treat them like crap and they will treat you like crap.
security guards are needed over here so we get allot of hours to work if we want and decent pay. when i work at the shopping center allot of the shop workers hate us cos we get paid more to do less work than they do. and all we needed was a 1 week full time course. yeh, 1 week. was easier for me since i already knew martial arts.
Cheers for the reply mate.
Well that's how it works over here, a good friend of mine went from a security firm looking primarily after building sites, how ever he moved and went to work more hours at a club in Blackpool and has since been on slightly better money.
PS : Are you still using the same MSN? :)
Well it does depend and sometimes clubs may pay more, but look at the hours. Clubs are only open for certain hours, buildings are always there. I know other guards who do a 12 hour shift everyday. On average they earn $25 an hour. That is $300 a day, and $250 after tax. Lets say they take sunday off, that is $1,500 a week AFTER TAX. $78,000 a year AFTER TAX (over $90,000 before tax) just for being a security guard? Yea, not such a shitty job now is it? And its not that demanding either.
And yeh i do but i barely get on, nobody talks to me lol so i cbf'd.
Ah well next time you're on I'll have a chat. : )
And no it's not a bad job at all, I think allot of it is easier if you have the right rappour with customers and people in general. Anyway I'm gonna have a look into it as it's always something I've personally been interested in.
Also theres the added bonus of getting free stuff from the places you guard lol. I get free food from maccas, free movies from the cinema, and i also guard a pizza place :P
yea,
It can get you very streesefull.
From being called a late times at night.
but sitl nice find.
LoL, all this talk about security guards and bouncers makes me think about going to work as a bouncer after I'm done with the army. Well, I'm a pretty big guy - but not just big, I've grown some lovely muscles over the last year :smilewink
What do you think? Is it good money? Does it worth it?
