english is just so easy, there's nothing you can say to convince me of the contrary. I have had contact with lots of languages and I know how easy english is compared to most of them.

btw a really factual and detailed post you did there rishwin.

please dont start you "know it all" bullshit, my family and relatives can speak languages that westerners would consider to be the hardest to speak, and they say that english is the hardest.

if it wasn't so late and if i wasn't so buisy, i would make a list of 101 reasons why english is one of the hardest to learn (list would include sentence structure, punctuation, grammar, past/present tences, verbs, adjectives, nouns, pronounciations, spellings, ect). the fact remains that it is an extremely hard language to learn, and unless you have learnt more than 10 languages and compared all of them, you really cant argue against it.
Rish, I must agree with MuRdOc. If you think English is hard to learn, you wont be able to learn any language. It's so easy and there's less grammar than any other languages, so that sentence was extremely nonsense.

Again, this one talks for you, if you are used to eastern languages/arabic and asian, no wonder it's hard to learn when you're not used to the latin letters. But for a european, it couldn't get easier.

well what sounds more strange Russian or mandarin(or w/e the hell it's called..) ? all eastern languages are hard cuz pronaunciation is important there, and hard. while in russian/english/some baltic countries languages you ussually can't pronounce it wrong, you might say it with a wierd accent though ... (like in stupid hollywood movies...)

some south african language for an international language would be cool though :D those click sounds they have are fun xD

Marklar, a marklar like Marlkar may be marklar to marklar, but that's only because marklar don't have the marklar to marklar the marklar.

It's all a marklar of marklar, marklar?

    1. read dtb's post.

    2. you are not comparing english to all the languages are you? no, you are comparing it to european languages. and let me remind you, there are more asian/arabic/watever languages than there are european, and european languages use english letters, whereelse other dont.

o.O since when are they english letters? i knoew the russians called them "German letters" during WW2, but never before had i heard them to be english letters.

And Rishwin, if you have to learn the language from 0, of course its harder. That doesnt mean the language is hard. In my language, you can change one verb into 20+ forms, whilst in english, as was pointed out, its like 2-5 max(i dont know what the technical term of the change form is, since in english, it just DOESNT EXIST. But i believe to a russian studying english is a lot easier to try to teach an english(by which i mean someone whose main language is english) some russian (for example)

Now, what if English wasn't the international language, how would the english and american people be? Today we see them as the "standard" people, but what if Scandinavian was the international etc. Of Spanish?

We can only guess and I don't dare do it :P
well if scandinavian was the international language then loads of people will have brain tumours for fun ;)

they speak "american" cos they also have different spellings for words so technically its a different language (like malay and indonesian - essentially the same, but with minor tweaks)
