iPod and iTunes.
So I bought an iPod Nano today and when i got home opened up iTunes. It started looking at my iPod and told me I required a higher version of iTunes to interact with my iPod, specificaly 7.0 or higher. So I download that which is aa 54mb download at 20kbps. Finally it is down and I try to install it and it tells me:
[The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.]
I tried installing windows installer 3.1 and it went through its process and told me it was done. So I tried installing iTunes again and, it didn't work. Same message. I tried restarting computer. Same message.
Any ideas what is wrong?
Is this doesn't work, I'm just going to reinstall XP.

Re: iPod and iTunes.
Reinstalling XP wont do much.
Have you tried running as administrator?
You may need to verify the registry products
1. Click Start, click Run, then type Regedt32.
2. For each of the registry hives, on Windows XP click on the Edit menu, click Permissions.
3. Verify that the SYSTEM account has been added and that it has Full control. If it does not, add the SYSTEM account with Full control.
