mine shows text not blurry in both chrome & firefox, both yours & mine.
but I have noticed it in the past in my sig but didn't take much notice of it.

its the image quality i guess, its server side processing, lowering the image quality, hence the file size. probably due to your isp or something. opera browsers have this feature, they call it turbo mode. well, its just a guess.
