Kidnapping happens all the time, if we didn't publicise it to the point of celebrity things like this wouldn't happen. I know having a kid kidnapped is a parents worst nightmare and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, but there is way too much publicity on random single cases. There is so many that go missing I just think it's so unfair to focus on one or two, especially when they start making charities for the parents to profit from it.
Personally I think these two were being quite clever, trying to exploit the system and use the idiots who buy into all the media hype. Though to be fair drugging your kid is a bit nasty! Least they could of let her in on the scam (so when the ransom is paid and she would be returns she could describe some random person :P) but I guess most parents are no better with all the anti depressants and crap they give kids nowadays.
