You likely learned at an early age, either through role models or from personal experience, that blurring the line between truth and fiction can be a powerful tool. Get in trouble for something, just deny it. Tell someone what they want to hear, and get what you want. You might even believe the old maxim "what they don't know won't hurt them", and employ it in your interactions with others. While anyone who claims they never lie is, well, a liar (just saying "I'm fine" when you're having a terrible day is, technically, dishonest), this is no excuse for the extent of your deceitfulness. Lying and omitting important truths is a dangerous game, and can seriously hinder relationships with others. Trust and true intimacy can only be achieved with open and truthful communication. Work on it and you'll see the benefits.
