EDIT: Just seen it, you bullshit, it's between 600-900 rpm, i knew it was bollocks, nice try. Also sounds to me like your getting the barrel confused with the magazine, because removing the barrel of any weapon system requires you to dismantle the whole thing. And even then, a magazine (yes, even an m240/9 mag) would not last 10 mins with constant use. NO marine would ever get a barrel confused with a magazine.

No, with most machine guns you do have to replace the barrel regularly to prevent the barrel from overheating and warping or wearing out the bore. The weapon will often have a quick-release feature so this can be done swiftly. The rate of fire in the OP refers to how many rounds you can fire off safely (in sustained mode) without risking damage to the gun, not the actual physical limit. This ain't no airsoft tings, actually firing 600 rounds in a minute would be extremely dangerous for the person firing the gun.

Well first off the Cyclic rate of fire is 600-900rpm, but the Rapid rate of fire is indeed 100 rpm.
Secondly, you'd only need to change the barrel if you where firing constantly, otherwise it would melt. Most likely their told to swap it because of sand and jamming problems. Not sure on that one though.
Lastly, they are in fact told to say, "Die mother fucker die" because when firing a machine gun without a bi pods the barrel raises up at a fast rate. Using short bursts keeps the barrel down, and increases accuracy.
I do understand recoil.
