Mental Ilnesses

After years of bla bla, I went to see a physician earlier yesterday (saturday).

I was reffered to a 'mental health specialist' a few miles from where I live.

Well, after an hour and half of talking with this woman, it turns out I may be 'suffering' from:

Schizoid Personality Disorder
Bipolar Disorder

So now I need to see her again in December.


How the fuck my parents didn't catch on to this is anybody's clue...
And here's me thinking my dislike for people was because the majority of them were stupid, lol.

Anyway, I think this has been done before, but, does anybody here know anyone who has those above? If so, what were the adulthood affects like?

And, to make this topic a bit more ranged, does any RZers suffer from a mental illness?

EDIT: To add on, I think either she was bullshitting, or they're moderately mild, especially when concerning some aspects of Schizoid Personality Disorder; I don't feel I'm narssistic, etc. The only things that apply to myself from the effects of SPD is isolation and a lack in social interst. They're mainly because 95% of people I come in contact with are either amazingly ignorant or stupid. Even with people with complete different interests, I can get along with, aslong as they aren't stupid/ignorant. And well, I like being by myself. I get a lot more done, and there's not much I can't do on my own that is needed to be done with others.

But that's the thing, apart from my incredibly dry humour and me rather being by own when doing activities instead of with people I have to 'put up with' rather than 'greatful to be with', I don't see how it's an ilness. And yeah I think about things like suicide, end of the world, people dying etc, but that's because I'm a very bored prick in a 'transitional' stage in hise life, lol.

Bah, we'll see what the 20 something year old has to say about my life, eh?

I dont suffer from a mental illness but i can say i have 1 disorder. I have a Lazy eye meaning that i can only look at things with 1 eye. My right eye is the only vision i can see and my left one is dead. While my left eye still has vision but for some reason, my brain does not malfunction it. I never took this to my heart until i thought about how other people felt and thinking that im perfect but im not. When i was small my parents tried everything to get my left eye to actually have vision. I actually have alittle crossed eye and i wear glasses to keep them not crossing. Its hard to be perfect sometimes but you except the truth sometime in your life. The hardest part is friends not knowing you have issues and they just play along.

I suffer from bipolar and many other disorders. They said that the vitcim is not the only person that do not suffer from it. It affects people around them. People around me do not even know the difference when I am depress or not. I think it is a way for therapist to ignore their trouble.

My mother's got that, and it is pretty hard to endure. Sometimes it can get so bad, it feels like a scene directly from the Exorcist.

I've got ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) after being re-diagnosed from having Autism. Similar to SPD, but
it can be alot worse. I socially reject myself simply because I'm scared of people :P

anyway, i got more energy than i should have, thats what
the doctor told my mum when i was small. also i couldent sleep
most of the time becouse i was so active. thats about all my mum told me.

Wait, after being best friends with you for like ages and hanging out all the time in school etc. I never really noticed that :S. Sure you were a bit narcissistic but weren't we all? We went to a school full of retards after all - it's no wonder none of us tried to socialise much, they were seriously stupid btw. Imo they're just trying to milk you for money, I doubt there's anything wrong with you.

All I know is bipolar is when you act different like it's nothing.
