Because many metal riffs use a specific note that people in the 60/70's believed to belong ot the devil or some shit. It was all shit and people who still believe it are just ignorant. Ignore them, if they think you are a Satan worshiper, tell the to fuck off or you will summon the dark prince himself to steal their daughters innocence.

The only reason I can think of why people think metal is satanic is Dimmu Borgir. When Shagrath baptized himself in sheep's blood on stage and proclaimed himself the Anti-Christ. That got huge media attention and was the only real "Satanic" scare.

Any music that didn't conform to the norm has always been considered something unholy. God forbid people used to thing Ray Charles was playing devil music because he was black and didn't play Gospel.

No, not everyone does. Yes you do get a first impression, most people (or atleast i hope so) don't judge then. Besides you have to look really weird for me to get a weird first impression, because i've noticed that i hardly look at how people look anymore.
