I'm a mutant.
Mutation is the key to evolution. It's the slight changes we witness in our races and species which are results in copying errors in genetic material (i.e. deoxyribonucleic acid) or errors due to radiation. People who are mutants are those with extra digits on their hands/feet or extra long limbs etc...

mutation can also be a bad stage of evolution, like an animal that lives in a really hot environment and having enough fur to make clothes for the enitrety of the 3rd world and the rest of us (bit of an exageration).
i don't think the human race will evolve to have any "powers" of any sort for the simple reason that we don't use enough of our brain to do so, i think at the last count the percentage was 10.

The "bad" mutations in animals are filtered out through survival of the fittest, and the beneficial mutantations are carried on through to the next generation and so on (i.e. evolution).
It's different with humans now though. In primitive times, only the strongest and fastest human hunters were able to catch enough food to feed themselves and sustain a family. However, just about everything is handed to people on a plate nowadays. Even the weakest, most retarded and stupid humans are able to live long and somewhat productive lives.
I think evolution will occur to some extent within humans. It's becomming more and more difficult to find a highly paid job due to everyone seeing the need to be involved in higher education. Therefore, only the brightest people are grabbing the good jobs and only they will be able to afford certain conviences (e.g. some medical treatment), allowing them and their families to have the opportunity to live that little bit longer than most. So I believe the human race will gradually get more intelligent, until the human race destorys the Earth that is :tp:
