    My phone

as some of you may know, i dropped it in the bath a few months back, and ever since i have had problems with charging it,

but now it wont charge at all, or connect to my pc, and the joystick wont go left properly anymore,

is it officially nakered, or is there something else i can do to keep it working?

My dad has some electrical spray at Glasgow Airport he can use, not sure how it works but it kick starts electrical appliances and makes them work. Try finding something like that, it does exist.

    Re: My phone

Mm I've 'eard things about putting it in the oven after that, but that's promptly after.
If it shorted there's basically nothing you can do... I can only assume it shorted so I can only assume you're phone is gone.

    -
I think that spray would be for something with moving parts (e.g. a motor). I don't see any sort of spray working on a phone with micro-processors unless it's insulation which is completely useless after it got wet lol

    Re: My phone

If it doesn't work full stop, I'd just bin it and maybe even make an insurance claim.

    Re: My phone

Well, it's broken, and if your household insurance covers things like you dropping your phone in a bath then you could get your parents to make the claim.

The insurance company will most likely match the value of your old phone.

Send it to a person who specialises in electronics. Check the pins in the phone charger socket then check the actual charger part that goes into the phone. See if any pins are crooked.

    Re: My phone

Does it still have power? My phone had some issues a few times when it was completely empty and wouldn't recharge.

Anyway you could go to some phone store and ask.

Put it in a drying machine.

Umm...is your USB cable working properly, try different USB slots... I had a similar problem with mine.

A lot of electronics will still work once all the water is dried up btw

    Re: My phone

Similar thing happened to mine, my phone was in my coat pocker, then my mother put it in the washing machine, it still worked but the buttons were fucked and my battery went a bit funny, so i just couldn't really be bothered with this nonsense, so i went and got a new phone, i think you should buy a new one because this spray stuff might not work, but if you
haven't got the money for a new great phone, just get a cheap one until like you have the
money? Then when you got the new good phone, just take your shitty cheap one back to the shop and ask for your money back, then you get somemore money and maybe you could like buy a water proof cover to put around your phone incase any silly accidents happen. :)

Alright 2 things you should realise.

    1. After a few months the water is gone...
    2. If the water hadn't been gone then the phone wouldn't work in the first place.

I've had it happen to my phone, so it's possible no matter what you say/think.
Right after I got it out, it had water in it, the screen turned on and it it shut off immediately. I left it lying around, and after 2 days it was working, but some of the functions weren't (volume buttons on the side). I opened it up, and dried all of it out, and everything returned to normal.

And you'd be surprised how long water can stay in places, depending on the environment...
But like I said before, the more likely problem is that her usb is messed up.

    Re: My phone

If a phone has been working and all that for months, then the water will have gone, either due to the heat, or simply because it dripped out.

Gladstone's 5 step guide to phone repair:

    1) open up phone
    2) remove SIM card, put aside
    4) carefully inspect the phone's mainboard, noting whether the pins are lined up correctly and the soldering is in tact
    5) Chuck it out, it's useless.

    LoL...pwn.
Yah really, just get a new phone if anything, don't you got some contracts or w/e over there, where you get a free phone with like a 3 year contract...there's still the activation and all that ... but still?

And you're like what 17? Get a part time job...and pay it off...if you really need it that badly.

    LoL...see.
You're just being picky, nobody likes their first job...because it's not meant to be liked...most of the time.
You put up with it for a few months, make some money...and once you've gained experience you can move up to something that you might like.
