The reason they closed down schools is because this virus is infectious as fuck, targets young people and because it has killed 168 people in the past three weeks.

Swine flu didnt kill me, niether did mad cow desease, nor did the cars that hit me while i was traveling, nor did the rat posion my mom put in my drink, and niether did the guy who tried to mug me at my school 5 years back. You want to die, then you die, if you want to live, then you live.

It seems here that Swine Flu has been reported in the U.S & Mexico,
how about the other country/continent such as Canada. I haven't heard of a report of swine flu here in Canada , plus isn't there a cure for swine flu already, thats what I heard from my teachers , but they might just be lying.

Just so you know, you're going to have to make those days up during the summer...I believe there's a certain amount of school days required during the school year.

Anyways, I haven't heard anything yet, but what I do know is, they might be canceling our graduation because this year (due to budget cuts) we're having it in the GYM (which is going to be packed) and they're afraid that people who might have it will be too close to others.

Alright guys heres the deal, Closing down schools is appropriate want to know why? Yes you can die from the normal flu but what... 99.9% chance you will not unless your fat and your like shit. Swine Flu is stronger yes, you should worry about it, but not like a fucking egotistic retard. Schools close down because if a persons child gets sick then the Mother/Father/Parent Guardian, can take action towards the school, It's airborne Yes it is, its proven. It's spreaded around the world in like 2+ weeks. It wasn't knew, Its been here but not as contagious. They seem to be into this alot, and they seem to be trying there best to find a cure, a cure is hard due to the flu being attached to your body so basically you gotta kill that part of the body or get rid of it by waiting since there is no cure for that, but you guys have to understand, It is serious, it is harmful , but not like you should be like the "THE WORLD IS ENDING SUICIDE" , all i gotta say.

More like the other way around my retarded friend. It has not killed 168 people, those are cases that MAY have been associated with the H1N1 virus, but they have not been confirmed. Last time I checked there were only 18 CONFIRMED cases that were the direct result of death from the H1N1 virus. Then there's the fact that ONLY ONE PERSON has died from the H1N1 virus in the U.S., when the normal flu accounts for way more deaths upon Americans each year. Most of the people in the U.S. have not even had to be hospitalized, and have been sent home to simply fight it off (sounds similar to having the flu, eh?).

All those cases have to be laboratory confirmed which takes time, but say you are right and the virus only has killed 50 people as the bare minimum then that's still a lot in 3 weeks. Also, the fact that Mexico is considering to close it's airports kind of proves my point that this virus is dangerous and that it's not "Just another flu".

People also have had this virus before the media blew it out of proportion, and people just got over it like any other flu. The only reason there are so many cases popping up left right is because they're looking for it now.

People have had swine flu before indeed. Though the things is, this isn't technically the swine flu, as it is composed out anti genes from avian influenza, swine influenza and human influenza meaning that your body has next to no defences against. And that's exactly the reason why it's dangerous.

Plus the overall health care of Mexico is not so great, and you can die from any sickness there, as in some parts of Mexico you can't even receive medicine.

Young people shouldn't die of the flu even if the overall health care is "not so great"

Also, every "virus is infectious as fuck", thus the reason every person gets the flu at least once a year on average. Oh, and guess what, it also targets the young and old! So next time you run your cocky mouth, do some research (some brains may also help).

Not every virus is infectious, flu viruses are about as infectious as it gets. And yes, young people do get the flu although usually they don't die of it.

I heard that swine flu actually overall is not life-threatening, as long as you get health care as soon as you are diagnosed with it. Many people who believe that they have the regular flu could quite possibly have the swine flu (or H1N1), and because they don't get to a doctor, then the chance of death is quite possible.

BTW, In Canada now, there are 201 confirmed cases. It's grown compared to the number of cases presented a few days ago.
