It's not over-hyped. People are so worried about it because it has mass pandemic potential. It's not like the normal flu.
I love telling people who think this isn't serious the truth.
Normal Flu (Like what I have at the moment) Kills so many people
IN THE AT RISK GROUPS.
These are the old and frail, people with diseases, people with low immune systems
This flu is more serious becuase it has more of an effect on EVERYDAY people.
My 2 cents. To the people saying it's just like the normal flu and in fact more people die from the "normal" flu each year than have died from swine flu...learn your history.
Flu pandemics can be dangerous is you aren't prepared.
Spanish flu killed millions of people. Several newly mutated flu strains have killed several millions of people BECAUSE they are mutated. As it stands today, if a new strain were to pop up (not swine flu, rather a mutated form of the human flu) then the only country that is actually readily prepared is the United States. We've got a lot of anti-viral medication stocked up over here because of the swine flu scare.
You could, of course, get treated with fluids etc but a hospital can only take on so many patients.
The main reason so many people are scared is because of the media hype. As of late I've had to hear "In later news the Swine Flu isn't as bad as was originally thought..."
The only reason Swine Flu and Bird flu hasn't truly become a pandemic is either because the strains are continually weakened and the virus isn't becoming more resistant to anything. It's also difficult to catch the flu from another species unless you're in constant contact and that virus has a chance to mutate due to constant contact.
If those people washed themselves every now and then the virus would have never had time to mutate. It isn't going to mutate into a human-resistant strain when it's in the pig.
You guys are lucky. My school will never closed down cause of thtat.but meh one day is better that none.(teacher stike thing)
I have got the disease...
oh not really I took the mask from the doctors office.
( hairs greasy cause im sick, dont feel like washing it :D )
This is a bit pathetic really.
No-one would go this crazy if it was the normal flu.
This is basically a normal flu. No one has died of it YET, and i doubt anyone will.
Its proborly because its like new out and everyone thinks it will kill them.
But if it gets the schools closed down, then
PRAISE SWINE FLU.
