    New Console

its suppose to make other consoles look like SEGA
    xD
    Sega failed so ya
What if you could stream top-end games to your TV, just like a Youtube video that you can control? You'd never need to buy a console again.

That's the future envisaged by Palo Alto startup OnLive, which plans to launch a groundbreaking gaming service this winter. OnLive will supply players with a small set-top box, not much bigger than a Nintendo DS, which will plug into your TV and your home broadband connection. From there, you can start playing games just like those on the Xbox 360, PS3 or PC -- but with no install time, no waiting for downloads, and no need for big, noisy, expensive consoles cluttering up your living room. OnLive's service can be continually upgraded, too, so you'll never be stuck with obsolete hardware again.
heres the link for more info

EDIT: if you can move this to gaming spot xD i thought this was it but i must of clicked without paying attention
sorry for posting in the wrong section

    2 words... fruggin awesome.

It seems like a great idea. And they say it will be much cheaper than consoles. I mean, even if it was $ 100 that is an awesome deal for great new technology. When it comes out, I'm buying.

    Re: New Console

I just read about this today in school but I wasn't really paying attention to the article much
seeing as how I was watching the time the whole period.
It said something about PS3 and XBOX, I just heard you click play from the console browser and it comes up. Seems like it would get laggy though.

    Re: New Console

it said you need High-definition resolutions will require a higher-end broadband connection
so you know what that means
    lol no lag really
unless you got a shit modem
but it all depends on once you get your hands on it

    Re: New Console

Ooo I was looking at the pictures and the controller is pretty cool; has play, rewind, and all that stuff and the design is pretty good, but it looks a little flat. Also, getting used to the new buttons "l, V, E, and L" could get annoying. And you could get L and I mixed up sometimes.
Also the little console thing is great, the size is outstanding, and it has 2 USB slots, 1 micro USB, ethernet, and more. Also up to four wireless controllers and four blu- tooth things.
This console looks very good already, and I can't wait for the reviews and previews/gameplay!

Saw this on Engadget a few days ago...

I dont know how well it will work. For the average user I'm sure it will work great. As for the high end users, I know I wouldn't use this until it can stream 1080p without lag.

    Re: New Console

Won't work till internet speeds/latencys get better. It's been talked about for years upon years now, sending just the image of what's to be shown instead of how to render then image. The problem is the info needs to be send from the user, to the server and back within ms, which I believe technology isn't good enough to do...YET.

Streaming programs works for simple things such as word processing, but for games the nessisary speeds are increased. You do see this type of thing happen at technology shows, but I have yet to hear what kinda of speed and latency you need for it to work fully. On a normal network it works great, I mean they've been doing that since computers were first invented with a single server computer and loads of console computers, consisting of a screen keyboard and networking devices. You replace the network with the internet and Bobs your uncle.

Essentially, don't buy it when it first comes out. Let the technology mature for a while, and when you have a Gigabit internet connection then it would be a good idea.

    Re: New Console

    lol
those who buy a system right when it comes out is never a smart thing but i guess people but
it before it gets more expensive but the company did say it wasnt going to be expensive
i'd rather wait for reviews and info and wait till they work things out with the net
