It's dark and nearing 12 o'clock
From your wardrobe you hear a knock
Alone in your room, you begin to fear
Hide behind your pillow, on your cheek a tear
There are no monsters - that's what your father said,
You think, as a claw reaches for you from under your bed
You scream and hurry to switch on the light
The last time you watched horror movies at night
Inspired by a dream last night, which was quite different than this. However it made me realize what I'm afraid of in life and furthermore, that in the end adults and children both base their fears on the same thing: the unknown, and the uncontrollable. Having just checked the "your greatest fear" thread, I suppose I could say my greatest fear is in not being in control of everything happening around me.
