Nokia has already closed their company in salo, except for the production line, so 850 ppl lost their jobs in Finland and Nokia has always been the biggest company in salo and now when it's down, i think there is going to be alot of houses in sale soon...

Nokia is now connected to Microsoft. WP7 has the highest satisfaction rate, is slowly but steadily increasing it's market share all across the world, the Nokia Lumia 900 is outselling the iPhone 4S and Samsung Galaxy S3 in quite a few stores including on Amazon.com, on top of that the Lumia 900 is the highest rated cell phone on that same site in the area Cell Phones with Service Plans. Behind the Lumia 900 is the Galasxy Note and behind that are the Samsung Focus S 4G and HTC Titan, both WP7 phones. In fact 5 of top 10 models are Windows Phone (actual top 10 since it has the Lumia 900 in it 3 times, so only counted that once).
Windows 8 is coming soon and is getting a lot of praise for a tablet OS (though for desktop use a lot of people have serious doubts - still this has no effect on Nokia) and we should be getting a lot more info about WP8 soon (MS has an event), which includes that it will change kernel from the CE core to the NT core (for those who that have no idea what that is, it will basically make it so much easier to develop for WP8, porting a game from Android/iOS to WP8 will be very easy)
The simple fact is that Microsoft is giving it everything to make Windows Phone and Windows 8 work out, Nokia has connected their future as a company to the success of this all, if they succeed then Nokia will become very strong again, if Microsoft fails to push it through, then Nokia will go down.
In the end, there are very good signs so far that they can make WP a success, it's growing in market share and they are attracting quality developers, Windows 8 is promising and WP8 will make it so much easier for developers to release their stuff on it, which will mean the Marketplace will grow rapidly (they are already at 100k apps). As a WP7 user, I can tell you that the OS is absolutely amazing. We will see in the next year how things will go, but I have a feeling that Nokia will survive, they will have to cut down first but will eventually grow again.
Funny thing is I'm thinking of ditching my android to go with a windows phone, pretty excited.

Nokia just recently started to make a competitive phone but even then it got a lot of bad rep from it's flaws at launch, and in turn ended up giving away the first wave of phones for free. You can't survive if you are not making a profit.
Given the fact that they only support Windows Phone OS, it only makes things harder for them. They are targeting a small user base and even then it shouldn't even exist. Microsoft is just dumping money into it just because they can. Maybe things will change when Windows 8 comes out and your phone then become a fully functional computer but hell, we'll have to wait and see on that.

Whilst I wasn't the biggest supporter of WP7 when it was released, I've been dual booting WP7 and Android for a while now, WP7 has grown on me but it just lacks a lot of things that makes it a great smartphone. I was disappointed with the Lumia 900 release both in respect to all the bugs it had when the advertising/marketing called all other phones a work in progress.
I was also disappointed that it wouldn't be upgradable to WP8.
Microsoft has not made any statements regarding the possibility of upgrading. A lot of rumors are floating around, but by now I've heard them all from supposed "reputable sources", whether it be a upgrade, no upgrade or a partial upgrade. We will just have to wait, with some luck they will clear the air next week.
What does it lack for you to be a great smarthphone?

Profit is not a real issue right now, Microsoft has enough money to support Nokia through this, what's essential is that the market share keeps growing, Microsoft can't afford for Windows Phone to fail, if they do then they might never get in it again. So as long as it's share goes up, they will put money in it. The release of Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 should change a lot, Nokia tablets with a well designed Windows 8 should be attractive for a lot of people, on due to the extensive support for coding and access that WP8 will have, all major developers will release their apps on WP8, that will assure that the choice for WP won't be one about whether or not you get all the apps, but which OS is best.
