It wasn't just about the forums, it was the feel and buzz of it all. I remember feeling like I couldn't look away as there would always be something going on if I leave that computer for one moment. Even the bad moments were great, the numerous bans, numerous 'I'm leaving' but then they were complimented with I'm not really leaving anymore. The we are all so gay and there is sooo no such thing as girls on the internet. Then of course Mir, the game which really brought us all together no matter who we were, they were the great memories.
I also remember those 'popularity' threads and what we thought of each other. The many arguments they generated were comical.
Not sure how the current/new members feelings but to me it just isn't buzzing the same.

It's always like that, some people claim it's because we idealize things over time, but the fact is that it's all about size.
Back in the day I would know at least 75% of the people that posted in a thread, quite often this would be close to 100%. Nowadays I'm lucky if I know a third.
The bigger something gets, the less personal it gets. It's why I'm not very personal in the sack. ;)

That sounds about right. Even if I didn't know that person personally, I almost always knew what they would put. I miss half the oldies. We had some classic threads with them. =)
