i believe this is for the ease of knowing what everyone is talking about when we say age, so we dont need to ask whether they are talking about life span or actual time in existance
if you count actual time in existance then i guess its not possible to be older as such then your father, unless of course your body is preserved after death and your father turns to dust then to nothing long before you do.
but then a counter argument to that is that of the immortal soul, but then it depends whos soul came 1st :D
