Quantum mechanics is the reason religion exists

    Seriously.

There must be thousands of would be scientists who after reading for half an hour in their newly purchased quantum mechanics book, slammed it shut and exclaimed "Fuck it, I'll just be a muslim instead".

    Fuck quantum mechanics.

As interesting as it is, it's insanely... insanely intricate. It's a wonder people study/advance in this field.

It annoys me when people want to discuss the whole quantum thing. It's so damn complicated.

Sorry to interrupt the whole, rant thing, but me and my inexperience would like to know, what's quantum mechanics?

Basically if you fire a single electron at a sheet with 2 holes in it, that single electron will appear to go through both holes at the same time. But if you do the same experiment only this time you actively try to figure out which hole it goes through, it will only appear to go through one hole. So if you observe the electron, it will act like a single tiny solid ball. But if you don't observe it, it'll behave like a wave. It's like they know we're watching them somehow. And it carries all kinds of implications about parallel universes and such.

Indeed, and I suppose in some other parallel universe religion doesn't exist. One where a cosmic radiation wave hit the founder of each religion and caused the cell to mutate, causing cancer. Instead of missing/being harmless. I believe that's how alternate dimensions are created anyway.

mad isn't it, I can't pretend to even try and understand it, the observer effect is a pretty big mind fuck

tell me something awesome about quantum mechanics pie!
