On a side note to the actual thread, it seems RaGEZONE.com went up November 2001 as a Wrestling site and a week later became a Mir Site.
I came at the very off-set of a private server which was hosted by AnDy, who was a monumental cock but he was our host nontheless.Ragezone.com seems to be online for 9 years and 2 months (since Nov 13, 2001).
My first encounter with RaGEZONE was back when it was typed as RageZone, so long long time ago. I was invited by a guy who some will know and many will not, but he is the true epitome of a legend, Mr Vanderberghe himself, DeadlyEagle. We where casual mates on the Legend of Mir Phoenix Server. He'd heard of RaGEZONE, checked it out and invited me along for the ride. I've been here since that day pretty much.
Back then the community was pretty small, and I say about 50-100 people played or visited the site maximum, but before long we got some regulars and legends joining the ranks, among them Capricorn and Morphix - Newcastles Greatest PvP'ers. Speedhorn666, metal god from Manchester, VAN, the Italian Stallion and many many more.
RaGEZONE soon became the server people played, the official servers pretty much died out and everyone came flocking here. In this time I was promoted first to Moderator then to GamesMaster by MentaL, along with DeadlyEagle, VAN and eventually Makaveli.
Soon, we got ourselves a new more reliable server host, our Portugese Pornstar, Johnyl1. Thats when the servers really took off, I mean we had 250-400 people playing at any one time! Remember this was a time when Broadband seemed like something out of Star Wars or something. So we had our fun times, a few server resets here and there and life went on happily.
During that period, the forums went down due to some real life issues with MentaL, and a few of us created some shite freeboard to help keep the community together until MentaL's eventual return. Which he did, with a bang.
vBulletin! We had a proper forum now, with flashy lights and everything. Soon after we got back up and running, MentaL the crafty little git got some little servers files from some little country called China for some little game called MU. Suddenly, hundreds of thousands of people flocked to RaGEZONE for these files since we were the only people to have them. That's when RaGEZONE changed from a Legend of Mir 2 server to a MMORPG Development Forum, a change for the better.
So life carried on, more and more server files got released and more and more servers came and went. Members started to stick around and develop new files and Emu's, whilst others - like myself - stayed around mainly for the community.
Although I see myself as a community guy, I ran RaGEZONE Lineage II for about a year, which was one of the more fruitful times at RaGEZONE. I played with friends, on a game I loved, and ran it for the community I love. Eventually the server went down due to then lack of interest and I moved on.
Then here I am today, I've been with RaGEZONE from the beginning till now. I've enjoyed most of it, I've not enjoyed some of it. I used to be a bastard, still am sometimes but mostly I always tried to act for the community.
That is my recollection of RaGEZONE, some may remember different but this is how I remember it.
Regards,
DTB
