One thing i did learn and take to heart is a simple rule that ALL people no matter what religion or whatever should obey. MORALS! From all my time in this convent school i found one of the most important thing that made sense was morals. Morals and ethics are simple things that all should understand and obey... To ignore them and go against them simple shows devolution. If someone goes against morals / ethics because there religion says so then quite simply that person is wrong and all it shows is devolution. How anyone can justify flying a plane into the world trader center and call it a good thing is far byond me. What has it achived? NOTHING. Just more death and destruction.
Stay good :good:

I don't feel the need to go into such detail.. I don't feel the need to justify my disbelief in Xtianity (or any religion for that matter), just as many people who ARE religious don't feel the need to justify their faith, I simply KNOW that there is little or no FACTUAL truth behind the religions that many people profess these days. What IS real, however, is the effect that those beliefs can have on people, and affect their decisions etc.. there are both good and bad sides to this, the extremes including lifelong devotion to helping others, ala Mother Theresa style, or the other end of the spectrum, zealots who crash commercial airliners into buildings because they think their 'god' wanted them to. :george:
Personally I think the main purpose of religion is to make people feel like they have an ultimate purpose, and in some cases, an ever-present companion. No-one likes to feel alone or that what we do is without meaning, and this facet of our human psyche drives us to form the belief that there is a higher purpose, a higher being, and a meaning to it all. I don't share in these beliefs, but I can understand and respect other peoples' need for this psychological crutch. :)

Well.. I wouldn't say that I don't have faith, I mean of course I have dreams and wishes just like the next person, but when I achieve something I know that I have myself and those who have supported me to thank, not some invisible guy in the sky.. on a similar note, if I fark something up then I know it was my fault and that I have to learn from my mistakes.. and there's no point in trying to fob off the blame to some mischeivous devil or 'bad luck'.. we make our own fate ;)

Araknheu, can you please post any good links you have regarding the satanic philosophy? I'm trying to find a site I found a long time ago, it listed some extracts from their 'bible', in a 'ten commandments' style.. any idea where I can find that to use as a reference? :)

EDIT: Found what I was looking for, I think.

I agree with about half of these, and half of the rest of the main points listed on that site :prop:Quote:
I. Respect not pity or weakness, for they are a disease which makes sick the strong.
II. Test always your strength, for therein lies success.
III. Seek happiness in victory - but never in peace.
IV. Enjoy a short rest, better than a long.
V. Come as a reaper, for thus you will sow.
VI. Never love anything so much you cannot see it die.
VII. Build not upon sand but upon rock And build not for today or yesterday but for all time.
VIII. Strive ever for more, for conquest is never done.
IX. And die rather than submit.
X. Forge not works of art but swords of death, for therein lies great art.
XI. Learn to raise yourself above yourself so you can triumph over all.
XII. The blood of the living makes good fertilizer for the seeds of the new.
XIII. He who stands atop the highest pyramid of skulls can see the furthest.
XIV. Discard not love but treat it as an imposter, but ever be just.
XV. All that is great is built upon sorrow.
XVI. Strive not only forwards, but upwards for greatness lies in the highest.
XVII. Come as a fresh strong wind that breaks yet also creates.
XVIII. Let love of life be a goal but let your highest goal be greatness.
XIX. Nothing is beautiful except man: but most beautiful of all is woman.
XX. Reject all illusion and lies, for they hinder the strong.
XXI. What does not kill, makes stronger.
ok, in advance I havent read the 2nd and 3rd pages of this post, however I just thought I would throw in my two cents
Everyone seems to say religion = war, this may be true. But then again we must remember human beings are sheep. Our culture and society is set out in layers and always will be that way. Humans like to follow people.
Hence, if there was no religion it would make no difference. Humans would still be lead to pledge their allegience to nations, or pledge their allegience to figures. Whatever happens, they would still be following a crowd and showing their "honour" off to different bandwagons.
So instead of thinking war = religion, think about war = politics, and where would we be without politics? Nowhere
