    You are 100% wrong, you have it mixed up. Hacker is the new age term, cracker has been used since the 60-70's for phone soliciting scams. Despite what you may think about "hackers" they are the enemy. I relate them to the mu kiddies; they believe they are righteous, some apricate in all cause right. Notice how Mu servers always get hacked by some kid who can SQL inject, then thinks that he needs to leave some nice rant on how the servers security is out of function. If only it wern't the easiest thing on earth to do, then maybe I would give them props; even for a Mu kiddie tending for the death of Mu this is underhanded.

    Hacker;
    2: a programmer who breaks into computer systems in order to steal or change or destroy information as a form of cyber-terrorism [syn: cyber-terrorist, cyberpunk]

    Cracker;
    One who makes unauthorized use of a computer, especially to tamper with data or programs.

    tbh im not gonna argue with you on here but i think you will find most definitons are wrong too, since they were created by people with lack of knowledge - the first rule of hacking is to never cause damage

    In essence, hacking is a way of thinking about complex systems. It includes the skills required to cobble together seemingly disparate pieces of a puzzle in order to understand the system; whether modules of code or pieces of a bigger societal puzzle, hackers intuitively grasp and look for the bigger picture that makes sense of the parts. So defined, hacking is a high calling. Hacking includes defining and defending identity, creating safe boundaries, and searching for the larger truth in a maze of confusion and intentional disinformation.

    taken from a website when i searched for the rules of hacking

    Well whoever wrote that made a few words up, and really has no grasp of what any of that means. There is a title for those who help, people who go to "hacking school." The name eludes me right now, but I know there is some 'special title' they have; everyone needs a profesional tag.
