Something im against

The Jist,

Im 19 years old almost 20, i live with my parents ya ya ya.. Ok we got a dog, two infact, but the problem is now my mom has decided to take her to the vets on friday to have her snipped so she cannot have puppies..

Im so against this 100% because i feel as if we have no right to judge if a person even a dog is allowed to have puppies or not, the fact that she has personality also worrys me to think if she changes in character and not the same dog as she used to be.

This may sound stupid but its the way i feel, just my mom describing that she will have a big cut up her belly makes me feel upset because who are we to decide an animals fate.

Anyways, the dog will slightly change tho. It wont go in heat any more and that's pretty much the only difference.

They're lower than us on the food chain, if what they do inconveniences us, we intervene and stop it happening. Cruel; maybe, but that's the way we are and always will be. Sure there are people such as yourself who're against it, but in lamens terms, majority wins.

our dog got 'fixed' but now where thinkin maybe she's not fixed right. The past week she's been carrying 2 toys around with her she never used to touch. she doesnt chomp em jut puts em gently in her mouth finds somewhere to chill then starts licking them clean, she sleeps with them and if you take one away she will start to panic lol...maybe she wants puppies or something is what im thinkin...wish she could have some :cry:

Even if we disregard cruelty etc, if we wouldn't do that to most dogs then there would be to many dogs, so what happens then is what happens in poor countries, childeren die all the time, ofcourse in a way it's not our decision, but on the other hand they won't be able to take care of it, so we have to.

Anyway that's not half as cruel as some cultures still removing a womans clit so she can never enjoy sex.

im not sure how bad itl affect a female dog but i know 100% that taking a dogs balls turns it into a pussy.

Yeah... it isn't fair... I've given up trying to ex,plain that to my mom, though. >.< I even used the 'what would you feel like if it happened to you?' line on her. :/

She explained that having dogs over breeding and over populating would be very bad. (Don't remember what exactly she said anymore.) It's sad and not right in some ways, but people do that anyway.

Both of our females have been spayed... both calmed down a lot. I'm sorry that your puppies have to go threw that. :(

Yea i was the same way when my dog had to get nudered. i was trying everything to not have it but there was something wrong with him or something so he had to. Didnt make a differnce for him bc he was still a happy dog.

i had a dog that got "fixed" and it went insane shortly after.. i dunno if thats in any way linked. my parents are pretty much animal haters. my dad told me a long time ago "If you want to get a couple of horses, you might as well name them Elmer and Purina!"

you are 100% right IMO... put yerselves in their shoes, being forced to get snipped and having the one biggest joy of life taken away from you (children, not sex :P) in 1 second... not fun...

In one way yes, I know it seems bad to remove the dogs reproductive organs but it also is also of benefit, and I speak from both a logical point of view and a biological point of view.

First off, if you didnt remove the dogs reproductive capability you would have to deal with the very real fact that in the even she got loose, if she encountered other dogs she would be impregnated. In this case you would have a few options:

Either keep the puppies which is rarely done due to the amount of puppies done per litter unless you live on a farm or a related big area and you can afford all the vaccinations, food, etc., sell them, give them away (both of these perhaps by some chance landing the dog in a place where it may be abused/abandoned), give them to the shelter (where they would most likely be put down if not adopted when they are puppies), or if you where to abondon them by some act of disparity you would be a worse person from not opting to have the dog spayed in the first place to prevent this.

Additionally the act of spaying an animal actually does increase its life span by an noticeable amount, decreases the chances of mammary cancer, and removes the reproductive system diseases, and both from reading on this and dealing with dogs that have been spayed and neutered I know that the sex drive does not go down (which is a bad thing in some cases)

The removal of the testicular organs will not make the dog a pussy off the bat, considering that there is still testoterone being produced by the adrenal glands and the pituitary glands. Removing the testicles will only result in an inability to reproduce, and the dog will also not be as violent when it becomes sexually aroused by another dog.

i know they can still produce testosterone, im just talking from personal experiance and nothing more

my family has had a lot of dogs in the past all but the most recent were show dogs. the1s that had the snip were pussies or acted just damn wierd. weak personality and such.

the ones that hadnt you could tell if u didnt even know them.
