This would impact every U.S. citizen as they would require ISPs in the U.S. to filter a list of domains that have been put on the list. Also, this bill would mean that anyone in the U.S. could be sued for sharing a link to copyrighted content. It's like telling someone where to get drugs, and getting arrested.

US has no power to dictate rules in ES and other places outside it.

Companies that oppose SOPA:
Internet giants place full-page anti-SOPA ad in NYT - Boing Boing
Here are the list of companies that are against SOPA.
We have google, facebook, twitter, etc. helping us. Let's support them and keep them signatures going!

Re: [SOPA] Calling all Internet Lovers - Stop Online Piracy Act!!
I knew we'd get more than enough Signatures and that it wouldn't be passed. Was a nice scare though for a lot of people

Re: [SOPA] Calling all Internet Lovers - Stop Online Piracy Act!!
There wasn't even any remote chance this would have passed. It would have hurt the economy way more then the US can afford right now.
Didn't waste my time sighing websites. That had zero to no effect what so ever lol.

We are expressing our displeasure for the idea so you can sit back and do nothing. :thumbup1:

Re: [SOPA] Calling all Internet Lovers - Stop Online Piracy Act!!
Want to prevent them shutting down you ? Shut down them. I'm pretty sure SOPA would cause a new vawe of denial of service attacks to DNS root servers. The logic is simple - if we can't use domain names, let's make noone be able to use them. There are botnets, with millions of victims, which are ruled by serious people. Just think about it...
1 000 000 computers. For example, if each of them has 1 mb/s network connection, attack would be approximately 1 000 gigabytes per second network traffic. Even DNS roots couldn't stand against such traffic flow... there is just no such technology available at the moment, that could process such data flow speed...

That would be rather epic.

Re: [SOPA] Calling all Internet Lovers - Stop Online Piracy Act!!
The funny part is that like they would call them terrorists... And as we know, "Nothing to terrorists" shit... (as they did with Anonymous).
Well, ok, shutting down DNS is violent... How about shutting down any shit related to that SOPA (like entertainment, etc) ? kkekek
OR... just setting up "pirate" dns servers for using in global ? That could even make domain names free (oh yeah...). Yes, it means, rebuilding Internet architecture by people...
The interesting thing about all this is that, like it's possible.

They can't leave us in peace with the internet really can they. It's like this in China really, they even had problems with Google in China and I'm pretty sure China had to start using Hong Kong's Google instead of the old Chinese one.
