This is technically true, but it has been taken down indirectly by the SOPA bill.

"A very broad law which gives the government the power to start stepping in to the internet and saying who can pass what to whom - I think that's a mistake."
Wow, this guy really does want to invade peoples privacy!
Hopefully this document will be refused as well.
He has a point. Doesn't matter how much you dont like it. Point of the matter being. People don't like these bills because it'll greatly lesson the chances they can keep doing the illegal stuff they always do online. If it was still the same bills, but didn't effect how you obtained illegal things online. I'm 99.9% sure people wouldn't give two shits about it.
People are just using "freedom of speech" and "privacy" as a backbone to justify not liking the bills.
I don't thinks so, they can block any website anytime without even asking just because it's not convenient for them, that's where the problems arise. It will most likely blackout the information.
Even tho you're right, I like to download stuff that I'm suppose to pay before hand, but that's not the entire reason of why people disapprove this bill.
Doesn't matter if you're doing anything illegal or not and it doesn't matter how "Anonymous" the internet is. The Internet is not Anonymous, that is a very very very very vague statement that is completely unplausible. Doesn't matter how "Anonymous" you think you are anyways, if they want to get to you and find out who you are do you think a couple little Firewalls, Proxies, IP Scramblers etc. are going to work? Hell, I can get around most Firewalls and Scramblers easily, I'd imagine it'd be like taking Candy from a Baby to someone who has pretty much endless resources. Bottom line is, doesn't matter if you're fking Ghandi, this is encroachment on our Privacy Rights that are WRITTEN IN THE BILL OF RIGHTS, that are supposed to be upheld not withdrawn. Every President before Senior Bush was pro-American and believed in a Free Country with Equal Rights for everyone living within it. But since our last Decent President died, the Political System as well as Politicians themselves have gone completely Corrupt and lost sight of what it means to live in the United States of America. I guarantee that our Founding Fathers are rolling in their graves.
People aren't trying to protect their rights as US citizens just because they don't like some Bill. People preach about protecting and fighting for their rights because they don't want to be slaves to the ever-growing Corporations that associate with Politics AND, because as American Citizens born and Raised in the US we have more than the right to preach, complain, teach, shout, cry all we want about our rights that are set-in-stone but are being blatantly violated. I don't care who has a problem with it nor what others think and I'm pretty sure that's how the Billions of others who are on the same page as me feel. We are not trying to protect what small amount of Liberties we do have left just to try to seem proportional in a pointless charade, that is preposterous and would be plain stupid if it were the case. We are trying to protect and spread the word to others about what small amount of Liberties we have left because we want this Country to be how it SHOULD be, how the Founding Fathers and the Pioneers of this Country INTENDED it to be before Greed and the longing for Power by the Corporal Masses took over, and most important, because we as American's need to get the word out to others who are not educated on what little amount of Rights we have left, so when they fall victim to the corrupt Law System they will know what Rights and Please they have that will hold up in the Court System. Really though like I said, we don't "complain" (as I'm sure many would label it) about a Corrupt Political System. We stand up for what we believe in and we preach for what we think is right. And if you don't like it oh-well write me a 20 page story and maybe after I'm done trying to get this Country back to it's roots I'll take the time to read over it.
And even if you disagree with that; who in their right mind would want their Privacy stripped anyways? What, you like being monitored 24/7? You like having your internet Censored? You like not having the Privacy of your own home with a Service that you are paying for? Anyone who is pro-no Privacy isn't in their right mind.
Usually these data aren't accessible by one person only, meaning that several people have to provide credentials in order to access the data. Much like in movies, where the president need authorization from his staff to go all nuclear.
Fixed that for you. You're welcome :)
What are peoples views on ACTA, which is basically SOPA and PIPA but its international, and a lot worse.
What can Anon do ? They mess up some static site of a government agency or something, through which they aren't even making any profit or getting anything out of, which gets back online in a matter of hours. They (the US Government or whoever) couldn't care less.
I heard mediafire is next.
