Would be brilliant if it was true. I'll wait to see it on the news.

Maybe the term "laws are meant to be broken" also applies to laws of physics. Well, you can at least try

For instance, an astronaut moving faster than it would theoretically arrive at a destination before leaving.
Yeah... And I created the internet.

Teleportation has always been a very amusing fact for me. Me and my friends often discussed how lazy we were and how good it would have been if Teleportation was really available. I am literally never on time for anything. :) .. Probably, I could be then . :D

I myself, don't believe this article. It comes from a source I've never heard of before, but if it was to be on the media as many people pointed out, then I would be amazed. But I for one, would be a bit frightened if somebody has broken the speed of like, because in the article it points out, "For instance, an astronaut moving faster than it would theoretically arrive at a destination before leaving". That's fucking nuts if you ask me. Just imagine arriving at a destination BEFORE leaving. That's insane.

One big thing that catches me is how we still make time a fact time isnt real secounds min and hours are made up but speed well isnt we can see somthing wizz past us although time we dont see that we feel it and see change over a period but still speed and time dont mix on such a levl .... as for going bak and forth in time that is so being somewere before u left ... means ud haf to be on a circle ... and time is a line So basicly i justran in a circle ... but yea speed of light if u wanna go faster than that ud haf to be on a circle instead of a line ...

Time is real, time is the 4th dimension.

    Re: Speed of light broken

    It's called a worm hole.

It folds time and spaces and then creates a hole that connects the two points. Making the distance much shorter.

So in fact you are traveling at sub light speeds but the end result is that you have traveled distance vastly greater then light could ever travel in the given amount of time.

This isn't the first time it's be done to be honest. NASA and the US DoD have been working with this stuff for ages. Not to mention I'm sure that other organizations are doing it too.

The problem with transporting anything larger then sub atomic particles is that the amount of energy that is required to create a worm hole large enough and would stay open long enough to make any practical uses of it.

You can take all of the power generators in the world to power it and it still wouldn't be enough to transfer a small object to a reasonable distance.

That is why the US is spending tons of money in the development of fusion power and I am sure that the Chinese also working on worm hole technology has they have a very active fusion power program. Which should see testing with in a year and half.

And I'm sure why you can see super powers eager to get this technology down. Think of the possibilities. Space travel to expand resource gathering. And then on a military level you can transport troops nearly instantly to and from the battlefield.

This is some amazing stuff and I'm eager to see what becomes of it in the next few years when fusion power comes into play.

    NoPeace - out

    If it's a wormhole, isn't the distance 0?

Well no, space and time is folded in a wormhole. making the distance smaller. but not 0.

You're not the only one. I think fusion power is gonna change alot in our world if we live long enough to make it useful ^^

Nopeaces info sounds very interesting. still wonder... live can travel on worm holes? mean, no living matter can... but what about a human being? once u get to the other side of the worm hole... u'll be alive?

fusion powers for fools get yourself a Orbo Steorns magical free energy source! why not use Graphene to create the wires between Orbo and your wormhole, with recent scientific breakthroughs anythings possible!

    So am I :o

Moving an object at high speeds, the energy is put into increasing the objects mass rather than speeding it up. Making an object move at the speed of light is probably not a great idea, I guess it would make a black hole at some point.

Wormholes however are much more intresting, but are WELL out of our reach. It takes things like suns to bend space, I doubt we will be doing it in a lab any time soon.

If we do ever get the ability to go beyond the speed of light id say communications is what it will be in. The big problem with space travel is how long it takes to send data to probes etc. If we do ever leave the solar system communication will be basically pointless, sending some data only to receive a reply in 20 years isnt going to be very useful. And hey, itll be fun to play a game with a ping in nano seconds :p

TBH if we really wanted to leave earth it wouldnt be hard, it would just take a long time. Thats where generational space ships come in, stick 500+ people on a ship and even if it was traveling as fast as a car it would reach the closest sun, with people on board. Providing nothing breaks or w/e I think itll be one of the only ways we will leave earth, and who wouldnt want to if said earth is about to explode or something ;)

Cryogenics would also work well, it just sucks when you wake up all your friends will be long dead. And if tech keeps progressing yourll prob get picked up by a future ship before you reach a planet anyway :p

Propably some calculation errors, but we will find out when CERN is finished building their huge machine for particle upspeeding.
