Yes, I should have explained better. The reason I hate America is simple (my other version I typed early today, would gotten me banned instantly, so I 're-made' it), some fucked up people are running it. Bush and co, you know what I mean.
You should be able to protect yourself, I agree, but on the way its being done, makes me actually quite sick. I've seen a lot of these discussions going on, on different boards and they're all mostly the same (you know, to protect yourself, or to shoot some bulls).
Any fool that has a mental problem, could easily get the gun out of his daddies box, and use it on all kind of ways. Be it to shoot some bulls, to scare people... or to just go to a college and fuck everyone up. Right?
Granted, I watch to much media, and had to hear all about this by watching CNN, still. It's no excuse that this shit is happening. The fact that you can still get guns rather easily in a country like America, is quite sad. It still amazes me that in a culture like America's where most schools got metal detectors these cases still aren't picked up quicker either.
I have no idea what your Government is going to do about all this, but I do hope SOMETHING is going to happen. Something to minimize the problem with having guns, as in making it more difficult to obtain um. As we seen lately, they're failing miserable.
My country is full with problems also (ignore my location over there in my profile). I'm actually from the Netherlands, and in no way do we use guns to protect ourself, nor do we really need to cause those that own a gun, are either cops (those that 'protect' you), or criminals (that do harm). I'm not comparing America to us here (it's not possible anyway..), but your government could learn something from us. What, that's for them to decide.
I just disagree with pretty much 99% of what they are doing, or are going to do (same story as in Iraq, when 200 Iraki's would get killed tomorrow, no one would care "another casualty of war" right? but when it happens on OWN soil its all hands to battlestations).
Absolutely NO disrespect to those that lost there lives in Virginia this week, but that's just my opinion about all that (was actually longer, but you'd fall asleep..)
Of course, there are some people that judge things differently, and have a different view on these kinds of subjects. Guess that's why your american, and I'm dutch.
(ps. I took time to word this correctly, and by no means do I want to insult anyone, nor is it my intention).
who said it was the media that drove him this way and i hate to quote my self but
and in his creative writing class he wrote some really morbid papers and wrote some off the wall plays one was of how a teacher molested one of his students and then the student killed the teacher and as the media put it he killed him with weapons that no one would of thought ofQuote:
and he left a note saying how he hated all the snobby rich kids
and hell maybe nothing drove him to do all this some people are born psychopaths
Oh, an intelligent discussion for once!
Thanks for that...I take it real personal when ppl keep saying they hate USA without explaination or backup - from our perspective, we haven't done anything wrong, why hate us? Then I see....its our governments actions + our fantastic media = misinformed.
I think what burns me most about the general statement about people hating the US, is the fact their opinion is based on our media.
Their coverage of this incident was terrible, and did not represent the majority. I think that all these students were disrespected by the terrible coverage - I'm still sick over this.
You're right, our government has a lot of problems, just like any other gov. Unfortunately, what our media decides to cover, and how they show it - is the only way other countries have had to judge us. Honestly, people here are no different than anywhere else.
It makes me just as sick to see people die in Iraq, or anywhere - as it did with this instance. The media makes it sound like we only care if it was an "American", and that it's important that this kid that shot everyone was "Asian" - truth is, its tragic no matter the nationality - and MOST of US people agree with me on this - you have small groups of predjudice everywhere you go, and other small groups of people (like in any country) that ARE only concerned with what happens to them - in their own little world. I will say that MOST of us are NOT that way.
Gun control is a hot topic in USA too, you may not know it, they have waiting lists to get guns, can't just go in and get them. Not every house has one - 39-50%http://www.availabledark.com/~ratty/armedamerica/introduction.html of our citizens do - but they don't all agree either. USA is only 200 years old, we have a lot to learn - but the government, as messed up as it is, is always changing.
What will our government do about this incident? Probably very little - it's difficult to use one incident, even as monumental as this is, to make a new law that will take something away that people have had for so long. I'm not saying they should or shouldn't, I just don't think they will.
